I need help with my frame rates, I cannot take it anymore! Can you imagine flying at 1-2 FSP?! It's just disgusting! Today I flew FedEx Md-11 KIND->KORD, with FsPassengers, and VOXTC. The frame rates were so horrible! On approach, I turned off the autopilot at 200 feet, and tried to land, but couldn’t because of the FS one moment I'm here and the next just 10 feet from the runway! I flared, but the Frame rates caused me to flare to much, and I tired to go down fast enough, and I did, I touch downed on the touchdown lines, but it was a very hard landing and I ended up hurting my gear. I tired taxiing anyway (VOXATC gave me a imaginary gate). The Frame rates (1FSP) caused me to just turn off the game.
I need help to improve my Frame rates. What do I need? Are there any programs that could help? Please help, because these frame rates are provoking me, and one of these days I'll throw the computer out the window! HELP!

Probably a good idea In my old system, the only way for me to fly was to turn off all weather (clear skies). Some say to reduce the amount of ai traffic but that never seemed to help frame rates much, for me anyways. Try lowering your antialiasing too. You cannot have both, everything on max and good frames. It is a balance based on "your" system. I found weather had the biggest impact!
There are tons of posts on this subject..included are some of mine asking the same question I ended up building a new syatem in the end. You can only get so much out of what you have, if it is to slow, there is no holy grail to fix it Just $. GL

Richy said it all
The model you're flying will also have an impact on your system. In other words, if you're operating with the Intel Graphics controller or similar and a slow processor, then even settings for no weather or traffic will help you much. You'll have to gauge all of your settings in relation to your systems ability to process the data. It's just that simple. Also, you can help your system out by using the disk clean up and defragmenter once in awhile. That is very strange that your frames should be THAT low I must admit. Even my POS system will get 4-8fps @ KORD with weather and full traffic.... That airport is a framerate killer for sure.... Good luck!

Oh, I forgot to mention that I have Simflyers KORD, and VFR USA Chicago Scenery, and I think it's because of the antialiasing, I have that on all the time. I put everything on display to the lowest it could go, and got rid of VFR CHicago and I was at 10-25 FSP, when I put on traffic at 30% it turned to 5-8, Traffic must probably be part of the problem, but I can't imagine flying without traffic.
Thanks,

Well, at KORD, you will have a problem with full traffic settings. YOU know from experience that it's a VERY busy airport. Even though the models for AI are low polygon, when you have 120 of them in one area, that can cause a bit of a load on your system... If you fly there mostly, and I'm sure you do, then you should set everything acKORDingly to get the most from your sim.

Thanks
I got it working. Turns out my Nvidia card was not properly working, but now it is. I am getting 6-7 fsp while on the ground at KORD, and as soon as I leave, or am on approach, I get 10-15. I went to a smaller place, and I'm getting 20-35, and sometimes even 40-45-50 fsp. I am really happy right now, and can't wait to fly in Chicago!

(The quality is not as nice anymore, for instance: blurry AI textures, or blurry ground textures, but I'm satisfied )

Perfect. Glad you got it fixed and up again. Low fps are just no good. Better your way, little less visuals but at least you can fly!!!!

Good for you Axiom. Glad you were able to remedy the problem. You learned the value of compromise at such a young age... This will help you later in life, and especially if you get married....LOL If it makes you feel any better, I've never seen 50fps here... I've seen 28fps when I was flying the default Cessna 172 and looking towards the sky.

Well, to be honest..It hasn't been that much fun. I have learned that there is a HUGE difference compared to the way it was 5 years ago. Now everything is gearded for the "tweakers", and "overclockers" including support. They expect if you have a fast rig you know how to tweak everything. IE: ram timings, flashing Bios's, know the bios inside and out. It certainly is not "plug and play" its as I have read "Plug and pray". Crashing, BSOD etc. They say no problem just have to "loosen the dram timing a bit" . I have in the last 2 weeks got it somewhat stable and have learned a lot...not by choice . Man.....
Ok I'm happy now

Richy, I just took the plunge, too. It's been years since I've dabbled with PC Hardware, and I was amazed at the stuff out there. What system did you get (guess I can search the boards and find out).
Here's my rig... most everything is being shipped as we speak:
Asus A8n32-SLI motherboard
AMD Athlon x2 4400+ cpu
Corsair Twinx 3500LLPRO ram
Hiper modular 580w power supply
Raptor drives
eVGA 7800GTX KO gpu
Thermaltake water cooling system
Lubic case
fans, controllers, dvd, etc..

Hey, sounds like a fine rig you have going there. Mine is not quite so high end. 3700+ San Diego Core, Evga 7800gt, Antec 550w TP2 power supply and 2X1gig ocz platinum ram. built it with the intentions to upgrade the cpu after FSX and Vista comes out. the rest will be ok, and the 4800+ dual core will be far less expensive then!!
