There was some discusion in the screenshot area so I said I would start a thread. I know most are FS9ers but there must be some X-Planers out there too. What do you like and dislike about X-Plane and may as well state what version you are using. That is a start!

Hey Richy,

I do have both. As for X-Plane, I have the 60 GB, world scenery. The newest version, 8.2 7 DVD set.

It is not installed yet, I am working out the little bugs of my new system, which is going rather slowly due to time needed else where.

But I do have the 8.1, and enjoyed the flight dynamics over FS9. However, for scenery and simplicity, you can't beat FS9.

I will be more than happy to return, with better answers than this, as this is very broad. Sorry.

RD

Cmon RD, Get that thing installed Laughing Laughing I have the same 6 DVD,s and world scenery. I updated to version 8.32 and frames are quite a bit better. One thing I must say... It is a different beast. By that I mean, Have to learn a sim all over again and I am just getting the hang of FS9. Takes time. For any out there looking for another sim, I would recommend this without a blink..Takes some horsepower though.

Yeah, X-Plane is VERY different from FS9, and has a lot of cool features, like being able to create your own concept aircraft and scenery. The controls are hard to get used to, and aren't as user-friendly as FS9 (you can't even re-assign some of them) I understand that many aerospace industries use X-Plane for design, and even one Aviation Authority counts its use as flying hours for the private pilot license. However, personally speaking, I much prefer FS9 for its easy-to-use interface. Its scenery is better too, IMO, although X-Planes' Dry/damp/wet runway feature is pretty cool.

Great timing,

I just got my rig up and running. FS9 is almost complete ( addon wise ). I am now installing all 7 DVD's for X-Plane. Let you all know very soon what comes out. Will also send up some shots in the S/S forum, if it ever gets updated.
