What happened was i was just doing a normal flight and while i was just crusing my screen went black and got sent back to my desktop with an error saying that fs2004 had to close and it asked me if i wanted to restart fs2004 so i did. It loaded this time but as soon as i hit the create a flight i got sent back to my desktop. Now when i try to load fs it goes to the splash screen for about 10 sec. Then it goes to a black sceen and its like my computer just sits there and does nothing. Eventually i get sent back to my desktop. Does anyone have any suggestions before i reinstall fs.

Try creating a new copy of FS9.cfg

To rebuild the Flight Simulator configuration file, follow these steps:

Click Start, click Run, type %appdata%\Microsoft\FS9 , and then click OK.
Rename the FS9.CFG file to FS9.BAK .
Start Flight Simulator 2004 - A Century of Flight.
Restarting Flight Simulator 2004 - A Century of Flight rebuilds the configuration file.
