Hey welcome to the site,
what traffic do you mean the default?
Have you had a payware expansion on? |

Yes, that's a possibility, but check your 'Flight Simulator 2004/Scenery/World/Scenery' and check for *.bgl.orig or something like that. Then change that back to .bgl (take off the '.orig'). This happened to me before when I used TTools and I had 0 traffic. 0!!!! Then I changed it back to a normal *.bgl file and all my traffic came back like magic!!

| I disagree. This program is a game. From what I've heard, the program's level of simulation is not even close to real life. Anyways, you don't feel turbulence and you don't get airsick. The GPS is not used in real aviation. I can keep going on...but I have homework to do. Someone can finish this for me. |

I agree with Myth. Th GPS is used in real life jets, except they are on another location. Partly yes, because FS's GPS is a seperate window, but no because they ARE used in real jets. The system is located in the TCAS window, next to the MFD.

| surely it would depend on how you use fs as to whether it is a game or not, if you use it like a real thing it would be called something else but if you just mess around on it, it can be a game.[/quote] |

| If the GPS is located in the TCAS, there should be such thing as a GPS navigation lock. Am I correct? |

Forgert my last post. . I might be wrong.
In real jets, the GPS is located next to the PFD and literally underneath the MFD (where you see this clock which indicates heading and course etc). In real jets, for the pilot, to activate the GPS on the MFD there are 5-6 buttons (VOR, ARPT, ILS, WAYPT, etc) to activate the GPS which functions with the MFD. If you activate VOR for example, the MFD will display all the VORs in the given range (you can select range as well like in the FS GPS). If you select more than one option from these functions, more GPS indications will appear, like Airports, Waypoints, VORs, ILS etc etc etc... That's why it is called "Multi-Function Display" lol.
Now this system is a lot different from FS's default GPS system, as it is way more advanced. But real jets STILL have all those FS GPS functions, but in the FMS computers (Flight Management Systems; another ultra advanced jet computering system which default jets/panels do not have )
Now there are panels out there which both have a fully reallistic and functional FMS and MFDs, and I am working hard to create a panel which includes such systems for ultimate realism . But in my opinion is that most Payware panels have the best and most reallistic MFD and FMSs.
