Flight Simulator really needs to work on the ATC as it contains many bugs, and with that I mean that a lot of times my FS crashes because of ATC.dll because I acknowledged to contact ground. This happened sooooo many times, I sometimes decide to not use ATC at all next time I fly. It is just too faulty. Is there an update on all these ATC bugs???

How many times have I replaced this DLL and deleted the FS9 folder from App Data??? I can't count them... maybe over a thousand times!! I have done nothing to my PC and I have done nothing in the area of ATC.

I presume you have tried uninstalling FS9 and re-installing again? Also download the update which might help!!
Ive heard of problems before with .dll's but not with ATC!

Yes, I have the update and I re-installed FS numerous amounts of times but the same things reappear sooner or later. It is never permanently gone. Usually fixes it temporarily, but then reappears again.

| My sympathies go to all who suffer with ATC. I am fed up with constantly being told to "go around" when coming into land at airports big and small. Another problem which arises is "IFR cancelled" I just hope that Microsoft do a better job with ATC in the next version. |

El, I've never had a crash from the ATC.DLL. That's really weird. I wonder if it's indicative of a deeper problem.
I gave up on FS9's ATC and bought Radar Contact v4 last week. Pros: It is real ATC, or close to it, the routing is more accurate, the AI planes are spaced and held so you don't have go-arounds. Cons: The voices suck. Really. It's not the quality, but the way they play; very staccato and slow.
But to me, it's worth putting up with the voices in exchange for a much more realistic ATC environment. |

Is that another payware addon? Because if it is so, I will buy it; ATC struck again. I cannot contact Ground because FS will crash (again). I hate this. I just want to throw the ATC out the window.

Hey Flight and anyone else mad at the ATC for consant go-arounds, I use a freeware program called AI Smooth. I have never had to do a go-around since i downloaded it. Greatly recommend it. Here's where you can download it from

i have said it once before to someone else... and i will say it again here.
go through your ENTIRE aircraft folder, copy paste them to a folder OUTSIDE of FS9. Uninstall / reinstall FS9, then 1 by 1 put your aircraft back into the aircraft folder making sure you pay ExTrEmElY close attention to the READ ME files. $5.00 says that 1 of your aircraft, or scenery, or SOMETHING you downloaded and continue to download is what is corrupting your .dll files.
i had the same problem. and after doing this the problem has left me alone for going on a good 6 months. Also, run a Virus Scan on whatever it is you are thinking of downloading BEFORE you download it!! then run virus scan on your ENTIRE HD once a week!!! |
