LOL Skipper, no I am not poor, just my parents don't like paying over the net because they are afraid of "security" of the transaction as you never know...
And yes, I am planning on upgrading to 3DDR RAM, more HD space (it's filling up), 1GB grafix, (possibly better CPU(??) don't know). I'm not bragging or any such foolish thing, but I do want my FS to run a bit faster...

Are you serious about that begging my parents for a loan thing?? Laughing

Okay now, you want me to take seriously the security threat that your parents believe e-commerce presents, yet I bet they have several credit cards, a water bill, an electric bill, a phone bill, insurance policies, maybe a mortgage or two on some property or a house that is part of a public database.......need I go on? With the proper security utilities in place and kept updated on your PC, as well as using a dedicated credit card with a low balance, there really is no more threat than sticking your gas card in the pump down at the ice-house. So please, give me a break, 'cause I used that excuse on my kid already..... Rolling Eyes

I was just kidding about begging your parents for a loan. Since you stated above that you are not poor, I guess that you must have a great job after school that pays good money.

What kind of work do you do after school to be able to afford all of these hardware items that you plan to buy? Cool Cool

That's exactly what my Dad is trying to teach me. How long will it take for me to earn all the money to get a gaming computer with just minimum wage? It may take a while.

Think about the future before making any potentially detrimental decisions.

Good point all around Gentlemen...

Capt. El. I support and second your ideals. Perhaps a thread in MA with the topic titled; " My Parents support/don't support my hobbies..." would lead to more insight? By reading comments from both sides maybe one could direct parents to the post and they could see for themselves the pros and cons and make a more informative decision yes? It's all a matter of communication. Speaking of which...the topic is about FSUIPC right? LOL.

Captain El:

I want to publically apologize to you for my comments.

When you stated that you would have to beg your parents, you touched a sensitive spot.

Today is my son's 31st birthday. I am very very proud of my son. He is only required to work 40 hours per week. However, he usually works at least 60 yours per week (did I mention that he is single and is surrounded by beautiful models all day at work). When he took on the large responsibilty of his own home, I wondered if he would be begging me for help. Instead, he is totally independent and only asks for help to borrow a chain saw, babysit for his dog, or other small things. If you grow up to be anything like my son, your parents will be very very proud too.

Don't worry TFish...it won't be locked. Might have gone a bit astray but nothing here should be silenced. The posters in this topic have something to say, of great importance, and to lock it would be a crime in itself. Further responses should be directed to the topic at hand, but on the admission of our Skip...and may I be so bold in saying that it takes a lot of 'throttle' to do what he has done, lets take the topic over to MA in a new thread so this one can go on. It has side-stepped into a great discussion so lets keep it going on a new thread.

Many happy returns to your son Skip...he's truly lucky to have you as a Dad...as are you to have him as your son.

I have been reading this for awhile, and even I haven't suggested it to be locked. Why ?? Although it is a bit of thread, it is about life, and the persuit of it. Even if it is gaming. Or simming.

To all:

If you purchase FSUIPC, it is a ONE TIME charge. You will have the ability to include all updates to FSUIPC forever. At least it is that way for now. I bought mine 1-1/2 years ago. I now have the newest update, free of charge. With all the updates from when I purchased it, there have been many. And the techie stuff that he adds and or updates, he could very well say "I have made numerous improvements....... Now with this NEWEST update/improvement, you will have to purchase this. And the next 5 are free." But he has not done that, yet. ( Man I hope he doesn't read this)

It is worth the money, hands down.

It's OK Skipper, I understand it is you want to know where I get the $$$ from to buy this stuff. Well, I convinced my father to look for the newest and best hardware available (told him there is a 3GB RAM and a 1GB card available and he said to chose wisely) Very Happy . I don't have a job yet, but I do get weekly earnings from my parents for the hard work of the week, and also for my good grades on my report cards Very Happy . I earned about a hundred $ losing weight (I used to have a little bulge Embarassed ) and more by my report cards.

Yes, this topic has a touch in our hearts about life and I agree with all the previous posts. And Skipper, I do beleive you have a wonderful son and I hope that he inspire me to do the same when I leave my home (where I can buy all the payware I want with my own credit card lol) to study in my own country where I can start a new (and my own) life. I am hoping to be able to become a businessman and start my own real airline. I might also form my own payware software organization and produce wonderful payware aircraft to the new, reallistic world of Flight Simulator (I might even create my own simulator Very Happy Very Happy ). I want to become a real Captain of a real aircraft of my own real company, that I would own, and visit many places and regions on the world (that my father has brought my desire for exploration into because we would move to different countries all my life). I don't want to be stuck in an office all my life, I don't want to work in a "cage" and end up where typical workers go today. I want to be on the move, I want to see the world around me, the natural beauty that lies beyond the horizons of the sky, I want to discover life, and where it takes us. I want an opportunity to be able to visit the places of my dreams, and stand there, proud, next to my own fleet, (and realism), that I finally made it there, with my own skill and ability to fly. And that's where I start now. Here, in Flight Simulator, to prepare myself for my destiny of flying. I now learn to fly with Flight Simulator for the benefit of my later life. Of course I will attend pilot school, as FS is actually insufficient for real life training. Maybe FSX will guide me to the next step of sucess? I am doing quite will here in FS and so I hope that training would be easier later, when I am ready to tackle the challenges of real life training, to become a greatly sucessful pilot. May the the world be with me.

Now let's put it at rest in this thread and continue in the MA. Any takers?

Oh, and about buing the FSUIPC thing, what difference does it make? Is there like more options, or more things you can do?

Captain El Very Happy

Your fingers don't work so well on the keyboard, yet you expect us (the paying public) to trust you to fly us with an aircraft to far flung places? I'm convinced!! Wink

I've had my paid for registered version of fsuipc for about ten minutes now and I had to stop and make this post. OH MY GOD!!!! WHAT A DIFFERENCE! I used it to smooth out some spikes in my joystick that caused the nose of some aircraft to jer up of down about 5 to 10 degrees when applying just a small amout of elevator input. Now I can smoothly level off at a given altitude. Now I can make some steep turns with as much as 60 degrees of bank and keep the VSI needle centered on 0 with no problem. No more sudden upward jer of some aircraft on rotation during the takeoff roll. No more problems with the course pointer on some aircraft always moving in increments of 10 degrees instead of 1 when setting a VOR or ILS course. FSUIPC fixed this as well. No more problems with sudden violent shifts in wind speed and direction that caused the aircraft to yaw violently when on approach. I could go on and on about what FSUIPC does but let me sum it up by saying that it is worth every penny and more.

There are more addons of aircraft, scenery and weather than you could shake a stick at...but very few that actually do much to improve the functionality of Flight Simulator. Make sure hardware is up to snuff then make your first purchase FSUIPC, experiment with it, read the documentation. It's true power comes to light when adding on hardware modules such as those by go-flight and others as you create "real" flight decks.

I just assumed that your parents are rich. Everytime that I read one of your posts pertaining to hardware, you are always buying the newest most expensive equipment. My computer is about 4 years old and my video card is about 3 years old. However, I must confess that I upgraded my CPU from the AMD 2700+ to an AMD 3300+. I will hold off on buying a 62 bit processor until after I see how my system performs on Vista and FSX. Why rush out and spend the money until I have to.

I was just getting ready to ask you for a loan. My roof is beginning to leak and I probably have to spend several thousand dollars to buy a new one. If you give me your parents email address, I will beg to them directly instead of using you as the "go between". Cool Cool

Hey Dan, you're my neighbor (I'm near KDTS)... when you get that money, let me know and I'll give you a hand building a kicking machine. Smile
