Just in case anyone who read my question on scenery white patches and didn't know how to solve it so they didn't respond, I found the problem. Just thought I'd share it.

I was using an old copy of Winzip.... 5.6 which was DOS based. It therefore could not "see" files which were longer than 8 characters, therefore they wouldn't get loaded and installed. Result.... missing files and white patches in place of where the files were supossed to be.

I found this problem by bouncing ideas off of great writers: Iain G. and Bob B. and Gerrish Grey Iain has great airport sceneries, three of which are Glasgow, Edinburgh, and Prestwick. Bob B. wrote tnarrows.zip, Tacoma narrows bridge and airport south of Seattle. Gerrish Grey's mstrees2.zip is a must have, beautifully done! All three are very helpful and respond to your questions is a prompt and timely manner. Hats off to these gentlemen! jyd

The only issue I have left is very heavy loaded sceneries. If I fly a heavy with a monster panel like the 747 and/or in an area with heavy mesh or a large airport I donwloaded I get scenery degragation. The ground turns to a green haze. Hitting pause and waiting a moment the scenery repairs itself. hitting W so I have only stock gauges showing helps as well.

Recently going to a GeForce 4 MX 4200 helped speed up the repair time. Running Win ME (Yuck) with 1024 memorymessed my whole machine up until i learned how to limit memory used by ME with Vcache in sys.ini. This helped some as well. Virtual memory seems to be large enough.

Pentium 4, 64 video card. All sliders to the max except visibility is at 90 miles, ati and airports is at about 7 or 8 instead of 9. Aircraft casts shaddows is off. Anit-aliasing is off. Tri-linear is on. Aircraft reflections is off. Our cat is not allowd to step on the keyboard...... anymore.

Resolution is 1024X768

Seems to happen mostly in the NW USA where I installed Ed Denny's Oregon Mesh... very beautiful. other places.... heavily loaded downloaded airports, but not as bad.

FPS will drop like a rock. FPS locked at 35.
