| Does anyone know how to get the stars in FS9 to look more authentic? |

There are alot of addons for sky textures... maybe one of those will help? To be honest, I've really never paid attention to the stars |

| I've paid attention to them, but I didn't know if they were modeled after real stars, or if they were just randomly generated. |

I've seen the downloads for FS9 that apparently feature the stars as they should really appear in the sky in real life, depending on where and when you are 'simming along. Can I remember where I saw these enhancements? Of course not, but diligent searching of the 'Misc.' or 'Other' categories of the bigger FS sites should produce results.
O.K. found one quick, here at Surclaro...perfsky.zip, third file down. Have a look, properly mapped stars may not mean that they look better. Have fun.
"FS2004 Perfect Sky 1.0 Perfect Sky is a compilation of the best textures edited by several authors of all the world. The attempt is to offer a product that upgrade the realism of the sky: variations of lights and colors during day and night, clouds with glares and transparency, sun with dazzle effect, moon at high definition, real mapping of stars. Over 170+ textures have been collected to create a more realistic experience. By Davide Scotti"

Maybe there are some textures to be found within FS folders that can be edited. Or a cfg. file for the stars that you can text edit for brightness, contrast, etc. (there's sort of one for my space simulator, Orbiter). I've found that half the fun is the search for add-ons, or the learning curve involved in modifying things for yourself. |
