hey everyone, i found this great little tool in windows called MSCONFIG that takes off you running processes in the backround and leaves your computer running FRESH!
I consider this to be a sticky topic but lets continue with the story,
I was fidding with it and then i clicked OK it restarted and when i went to run FS2004 my computer felt like i had 10000 gigs of ram a POWERFUL PROCESSOR! and a goooood videocard,
i had NO jagged edges the airports were FRESH no FPS drop, they increased!
Wanna know the steps here it is:
1- click start then click "RUN"
2- Tpe in the box "msconfig"
3-Select "SELECTIVE STARTUP"
4- UNCHECK "Process.system.INI FILE"
5-UNCHECK "Process WIN. INI file
6- UNCHECK " LOAD STARTUP ITEMS"
7- CLICK " SERVICES" TAB
8- CKECK " Hide all microsoft services"
9- CLICK " DISABLE ALL"
10- CLICK "OK" and restart your computer
____________________________________________________________
You can always go back and reverse the steps
It worked for me, and i hope it work for all of you
For best results when you go onto fs2004 click the Q key to disable the sound, this makes you FPS go up!
NOTE: I have nothing to do if you computer gets damaged(you are on you own)
HAPPY FLYING! |

Problem with doing that is 100 fold.
You are also disabling your virus protection. Which, if you and your system likes having the flu and seeing the Blue Box of Death, I wouldn't be doing this.

This may be true RD, but you have to remember, that is on boot up. Your Anti-virus wont boot up as it normally would, nothing will... just the bare items to let it work. Once you are in Windows (or your Software of choice) then you have to MANUALLY start your protection, and other services that you need... be it Nortons / Macafee, .. Wireless Internet / LAN / DSL / Dialup, .. Firewall.... anything else that you will require to allow you to connect and be safe. ..... if your gonna play, play smart and safe. |

BEEEP, Wrong again propwash.
As soon as you disable them, you are open to hackers invading your system . And without you knowing about it cause you shut down your protection.
Also, if you manually restart/run them, then you gain nothing. So why do it??
Also, reread the post. He is suggesting running bare bones with no protection.

| Totally agree with rd on this one, there are certain core startup services which should never be stopped. |

I used it with the 30 day trial period. It really does improve your systems performance. If you want to purchase it it's $44.95 US.
System Mechanic
This suite of 19 tools can help you troubleshoot problems before they occur.
One tool streamlines your registry by finding and removing information that is no longer valid or has become obsolete. Another finds and removes debris littered across your system by untidy programs, system freezes, and sudden system restarts. Use the Incinerator tool--a secondary Recycle Bin--to securely delete sensitive files and data.
Other tools help you to keep track of your installation and uninstall files, find and remove space-wasting and error-producing duplicate files and drivers, eliminate the tracks you leave behind on the Internet, and more. You can schedule these tools to run at regular intervals, keeping your system in top shape.
And the new features in the latest version? Try a disk defragger, memory defragger, pop-up blocker, and spyware protection. |
