Hi,
I was wondering if you could tell me if the system I have can run Flight Simulator X ok? It did with Flight Simulator 2004 and 2002. because ive read that FSX can run on about the same requirements as FS2004.
I have on my system:
Intel Pentium 4 3.06GHz with Hyper Threading Technology
ATI Mobility Radon 7000 128MB
768MB RAM
Windows XP Home Edition
I know that it wont run with top settings I just want to know if it works ok to fly with.
I downloaded the FSX demo and it seemed ok, so I just want to know your opinion. Thanks!
Thanks!
Thanks for your reply!

| perhaps a bit more RAM would suffice (ovr a GB) but apart from that, looks fairly descent |

yeah, I have used my Laptop for a 4 hour flight once so it could be good at FSX.
I know the Water textures will definatly not work because the Radeon 700 doesnt have pixel shaders 3.0 whick FSX uses.
oh, btw, the Radeon 7000 IGP came out in like 2002 or something. so would it still work ok? |

| Can I ask what good the Omega Drivers will do? I know the drivers work on my system, but would it be an improvement on the FPS much? |

I was just reading my October issue of COMPUER PILOT MAGAZINE. They indicated that the November issue will contain a nice article about hardware requirements for FSX and Vista.
As I have said many times over the past few months, "Do not make any quick decisions about hardware requirements for FXS based upon the FSX Demo because the Demo was release very early in the Beta Test cycle. |

Yeah, that's right. BUT, a new demo is out if u guys missed it

Enjoy
Btw, personally, I'm waiting to upgrade anything until DX-10 is out. It would be pretty tiresome to just have upgrade your hardware, and then u find out that DX-10 is not supported on it... |

I predict DX10 cards will be released about 3 months after Windows Vista is released. It's an entirely new technology, and it crushes the power and capabilities of DX9 big time. The fact that DX10 is not backwards-compatible with DX9 says a lot.
Oh, and Omega drivers.... They are sometimes beneficial; it depends on your GPU. They don't necessarily improve FPS. Drivers just fix some common issues end users encounter. Omega makes good, stable drivers. Try them out. If you don't like them, revert back to stock drivers. So yeah, the bottom line is, try the drivers out. |

| With my older ATI card, the Omega drivers were way better than the buggy, crappy drivers that came with the card. |
