Do you mean an image editor or are you referring to FSRepaint?

I use something called Photo Explosion Delux, got it free when I bought a Lexmark printer. Much of what I do though is in simple MSpaint. I'm not as technical as a lot of guys but I manage to please myself most of the time. But I think you will need the DXTBmp converter regardless of anything else you get.

FSRepaint can be quite handy for the novice repainter. It is a little limited in it's tool selection. The bright spot in it's features (pardon the pun) is the ability to edit the light textures. These are the light splashes on the fuselage and vertical stabilizer where logos and signage are lit with spotlights. It is also limited to editing the aircraft. FSRepaints' ease of use far outweighs any shortcomings and is not a bad investment for the FS enthusiast. I have not yet heard of any impending update to allow it work with FSX. FSRepaint is payware, you can use the demo version but it wont save any changes. I am not aware of a freeware program that functions as FSRepaint does. You may use any freeware image editor that can handle the major image formats along with DXTbmp (also freeware) with much more success and detail. Using this method also has the advantage of being able to edit any image in FS from aircraft textures to buildings and other scenery elements that have an image file associated with them. Some of the images in FS are not extended format and can be directly edited with your image editor.
