Check this out and let me know what you think. I have been experimenting with this for about an hour or two this morning and I am very impressed with the results. I am using the ATI Radeon 9500 Pro video card.

I went into my ATI CATYLYST CONTROL CENTER and set the following to "Let the Application Decide". I then turned on Anti Alias from within FSX".
Anti Alias
Ansitopic Filtering
I enables Adaptive Anti Alias (I'm not sure about this one and need to do more testing).
I also disabled Catalyst A.I. |

Please let me know if anybody else benefitted from this great suggestion or was I the only one who noticed a great improvement? |

| I actually got degraded performance and switched back to ATI-controlled AA. I turn off AA anyways because I get about 2 fps with AA. My computer can't handle FSX. I am still have FS2004 hehe... |

Please forgive me for not saying up front that this tip only applies to FSX. It is not applicable for FS9. |

| Well, on my rig, there wasnt a whole lot of frame rate change, but I did notice some terrain lag when AF was application preferred in ATI. My best visuals were with AA and bilinear in FSX and AA=6, AF=8, "wait for vertical sync"=OFF (this helped me significantly with lags in Fs9) in ATI. Mind you, if I go flipping views too quickly my processor quickly succumbs and my g-card just goes to sleep waiting on cycletime. Must have blazing bus speeds for this bird. I feel even a moderately fast processor would handle it, but the motherboard has got to be up to speed to handle the smoke signals from the graphics adapter. |

Sorry for being "unorganized." I got degraded performance on FSX when trying out your tip, so I switched back to FS2004. Knowing that I was not going to play FSX for a long time, I uninstalled it and switched back my old settings in the ATI control panel.
Thanks for the tip though. I will try it out once I get another rig. |
