Hi, can flight simulator hardware from different companys, like GoFlight and Desktop Aviator? I'm looking at buying several modules from GoFlight, they also have a nice trim wheel, but it includes a landing gear lever. I'm making a 172 and it obviously doesnt have retractable gear. Can I use the also nice trim wheel from Desktop Aviator along with the GoFlight gear?
My guess would be definitely yes. I have had two different switching devices (Model 1010 and Model 1020) from Desktop Aviator for several months and love them both. They each plug into individual USB ports and they are very easy to assign keys to.
If you decide to purchase either of the Desktop switches, send me a private memo because I have developed "templates" which will allow you to override the default switch settings or to change you mind from time to time.
Thanks, I was given $1000 dollars by the museum I work for to buy equipment for a class to teach kids the basics of flying a plane. I'm going to put together a simulated C172. If its a success, I will be given more money to buy more modules, PCs, monitors, and a second seat for a two person cockpit.
I know, I've read about people who made these things in the past, and how when they were first starting, they were totally frustrated and didnt know a lot about what they were doing. Now, all completed they look back and laugh. Right now, I'm in that frustrated confused stage. I just hope I'll make it far enough to laugh.
Eh.. I think I will just use this topic as support instead of making another one. About this simulator? I'm off to a better start then someone making this from scratch, not because I'm being given $1000 dollars, even though this is nice. I posted a long time ago about if an old ATC-510 simulator could be interfaced with FS9, no responses. New plan, I will shell out (both) single pilot ATC-510's, and put them together to form a full cockpit. Then it will be filled with gauges from GoFlight, and I will personally create all the switches and buttons using basic electronic components.
Oh yeah, both ATC-510's came with real C172 seats, yokes and rudder pedals and are placed on platforms that are designed to be attached to a hydralic platform if needed
Alright, now for the helping part. I would really like some help with a FSUIPC-savy guy. I'm going to be running 3 computers, 2 for visuals and 1 for the instructor station. Hooking that up is for another time. What I need it locating, or making a program that allows the instructor computer to be able to view ALL aspects of the user's aircraft, (heading, course, NAV, COM, altitude....)
What I also want it to be able to do is allow the instructor to have complete control over the simulators systems, (control all system failures.) I have FsP, and would be great if I could make a birds fily into the windshield, or make the door pop open.
Last, the instuctor computer is not a Fs Computer, so no graphics. I want it to viw FS9 in a ATC screen type view to view all traffic.
I thought maybe IVAO programs could be adapted to be useful, and the Traffic Watch program supplied with FSUIPC could be modified to give extra information.
I rushed this topic, If anything is misunderstood, lemme know, THANKS
I actually worked my ..butt.. off last night on the internet, after a LOT of link leaping, I found FS-Interrogate, which, I think will do most of what I want, telling me all about the FS Plane. I don't think it will however, allow me to introduce failures.
BTW!! I'm going to meet with our treasurer this weeked and try to convice him to give me the $12,000 for the complete flight deck from SimKits. My offer is two, 3 week courses every month, each of which generating $2,500. We're not rich, but if they can scratch up that much doe, then it'll pay for itself in 3 months and keep on generating income after for a long time.
