Right with you on that one, No point in vista. XP runs fine with me.

Got a friend that has vista, and he has had so many problems its unbelievable. Give it half a year, then i might just think about it for a couple of nano seconds.

If it aint broke, dont fix it!

No contest ...I just built me a computer just for flight simulation. I kept XP, gave it a ton of RAM, a hot game card and a fast processor......Boy am I a happy camper......I also bought a new laptop with Vista.......Wish I would have stayed with XP....Vista spends so much time trying to help you, that you can't do what you want to do...... Crying or Very sad I'm with TomCat.....Give Vista a year or so to get all warts out.

It really makes my day to read postings from people who are smart and patient enough to wait a few months before spending a lot of money on:
Vista
FSX
DX10 compatible graphics cards.

My hat goes out to you'all.

As for the less smart and inpatient ones out there, Mr. T always says, "I pitty the fool". Cool Cool

Yeah right on with Vista (yawn)! It looks like a jazzed up ME op system.

Change by all means if you enjoy shooting yourself in the foot...

As far as FS10, I read an article on that subject written in the latest "Computer Pilot" magazine that list the flaws of FSX. Without DX graphics FSX is worthless..

Did you know that you cannot save a flight and go back later in FSX. When you end a flight you have to start all over. Those long flights across the Pacific are going to be hard to do and when you get interrupted by dinner or visitors.

How dumb can you get?
FSX must have been designed by non flight simmers..

The said magazine had an article on how to move FS9 aircraft to FSX. It is difficult and mostly unsuccessful. WHY, in heavens name didn't the stupid dummies make FSX compatible with FS9 aircraft!!!!

The major problem is with the gauges. When you move to FSX you will lose many favorite gauges...

Dumb, dumb, dumb!!!

FSX is not a serious Flight Simulator it is just another dumb game....

I am always happy to hear about someone else who subscribes to my favorite magazine Computer Pilot. I have been a subscriber for about four years. My subscription expires sometime in 2009 (I keep taking advantage of their specials where they offer a subscription extension when you purchase some software). Cool Cool

Yeah, "Computer Pilot" is a great magazine. I have learned a lot from the mag. Now I know how the Boeing Glass panel and the FMC works...

The article comparing the Airbus and Boeing glass panels was very interesting.

I got to try that "Around the world flight" article in the latest copy...

I read an article in our local paper from a computer guru, that stated the Firefox browser will not work on Vista. MS wants you to use their crappy IE browser.... Interesting....

Also he wrote that Outlook Express is flaky under Vista... I seems several MS products will not work properly with Vista... Go figure that one....

MS can stick Vista up where the sun doesn't shine, as far as I am concerned..

I have several flights saved in FS9 that have very difficult landing approaches. I practice them over and over. The hardest is landing a Dash 8 turbo commuter at Dutch Harbor AK (PADU). Short runway, nasty crosswinds and surrounded by high mountains and short head on approach makes for an interesting problem.

As far as FSX goes, it is a piece of crap. If they ever update it where it can save flights and fix the graphics bugs, I might take another look at it.

I can not comment on Vista/DX10. This is because I have chosen to wait for two reasons:

1. When you reach the age of 60, do you do not have the option to jump up and down on Daddy's bed crying for new software and an expensive graphics card just so that you can watch cars drive up/down the road, boats motoring up the river, or watch elephants roaming around the jungle. I prefer to use this software as a Flight Simulator.
2. I prefer to wait until my computer no longer serves my current needs. As Microsoft has already stated many times in recent articles, "FSX is designed for computers of the future". It will run on current computers. However, it will run better on Vista/DX and will improve with future generations of computer.

In conclusion, I think that you are wrong to call FSX dirty names. When I was serving on the FSX Beta Test team, I observed several problems and I observed a list from other people who also observed several problems.

My only complaint about FSX is that it was released too soon. They should have left it in the hands of the Beta Test team longer until more of the bugs were fixed. I respect Microsoft and feel that the Flight Simulator software is great product considering that it covers the "whole world". I feel confident that Microsoft will have to release an update in the near future. Cool Cool

Yeah Skipper I agree..

But you would think with all the experience MS had with previous Flight Sims that FSX would be smooth as silk and have all the great features of previous ones plus many enhancements like super graphics, fast frame rates, smooth ATC communications, and compatibility with previous sims.

FSX appears to be designed by a bunch of high school game players....

Maybe in a year or so they will fix it... Right now it is a waste of good money. Same with Vista. It seems that the software has gotten ahead of the hardware and will take a while to catch up....

FireFox just came out with updates that make it Compatible with Vista.

Maybe after a few SPs come out Vista might start to work....
