Get a checklist for the aircraft(s). If you want a full realistic checklist go for the PMDG 747 one (sure it can be found @ avsim).
Btw u do also need a panel with overhead etc.. |

Hi again BlackAlpha,
Basically:
1) Fuel and ignition switches must be set to "cutoff". (black levers below the throttle levers)
2) On the overhead panels there are start switches. In real life there are all sorts of checks to do, but Flight Sim doesn't accomodate for them.
3) Pull the start switch for the engine you want to start. It's not uncommon to do 2 at a time because the 747 APU is very powerful (the APU is in the tail of the aircraft and is like a mini-engine / starter motor for a jet aircraft.)
4) Now watch your N2 indicator, it will slowly rise as the APU turns the motor. when it reaches between 20% and 22% N2 (i'm not certain of this figure, but that's right for a 737) flip the fuel and ignition switch for that motor to "idle" / "run" or whatever.
5) Now just monitor the EGT and make sure it doesn't run into amber or red. Also check fuel flow, oil pressure and other stuff on the EICAS to make sure everything's stable and all 4 engines are about the same.
That's a very basic desription of the proper start procedure.
