Another question or two.....

I installed the F-18 Superhornet package today. (fa-18e_sh.zip) I believe it was designed around RCBCO-11, but I have RCBCO-20 installed.

The problem I'm having is that the "meatball" appears to be dead. It's there in the HUD, but it doesn't do anything. Neither do the lineup needles. Also, the catapult seems to be always armed, and the trap seems to work anywhere so long as the tailhook is down.

I guess my question is whether a plane designed around an earlier RCB version is supposed to work properly with the newest version, and if not, what's required to upgrade the plane from the later version to the newer?

You can get RCBCO-11 and install it as per instructions.

The two RCBco's do not work together. If you have an older plane that works with RCBCO-11, it will not work with RCBCO-20, and vice/versa. You can make it work, but you will have to know how to edit and modify the panel.cfg.

The gauges and the workings for both will be unchanged, and do work together just fine. I have 3 different carrier OPS running on FS9 and 2 on FSX. The only overwrites will be the sounds and effect, nothing else.

You can get it here: http://www.simviation.com/fs2004military20.htm Third from the bottom/third from the last.

What would need to be changed in the panel.cfg?

The install directory for both the older and newer RCB packages are the same, and I'd rather not overwrite the newer version of the files with the older version. At least, that's how I'm reading the installation directions.

EDITY BY TRAPMASTER: Yeah, they go to the same place, but they operate differently. But look closer, and you will see it works, with no problems or interference of having both. As said earlier.

I changed my mind, HERe LOAD THESE TWO ORIGINAL SETS for the f18 into the F18 folder in FS9/Aircraft/F-18/xxxxx

Panel in folder is setup for 2.0 and is the F18E by Daisuke etc.

The same with the Aircraft.cfg

These are from my Special Carrier Operations package on Avsim, Surclaro, Simviation with total downloads from all sites at 55,000+. It is a hot file and improves the Waikato Carrier Scenery. It adds F16C Viper and the F16A ktiger.zip "Belgium Tigermeet Viper". with th eB tomacat,, and the F18 Growler

This set of files I give you, JUST EXTRACT INTO THE AIRCAFT folder for the F18. OVERWRITE: YES!

Load all the gauges for 2.0 as per instructions using winzip! NOT MANUAL, if you did manaully , most likely an error occurred.

You make sure the gauges, sound folder {main} and the FX is in place correctly: fx.rcb.machevlop.fx (mach envelope) VAPOR CLOUD FX.

OK?
MAKE SURE you have fsuipc LATEST download FROM flightsim.com! OR CAT WILL NOT WORK!

Good luck !

Sorry for asking what must appear to some of you as stupid questions, but don't confuse "not wanting the help" with not understanding how something is supposed to work. If I didn't want the help....I wouldn't have asked.

Thanks for the .cfg and .zip files. I won't bother you folks anymore.

Hello Gary,

If I do not get a reply after allot of effort within 3 days, I wonder if they solved the problem. I KEEP EVERYONE abreast as best I can of things of notable import. So time is important in getting to the post you put up. I don't want to have to put you off because my stuff is due, that is why it is always nice to check your post, drop a note and status me or the other guys.

I NEVER accused you of being DUMB with the "??". only DUMB ?? is to have no ?? at all when you know you need help.

I never worry about the challenge. The thing that gets me is people post something that indicates a fervent & accurate solution set to a problem is in need of a urgent answer, but that poster does not check the BBS daily to see if it is answered yet.
IN HERE: ONE DAY is all it takes, everyone jumps in to help.

YES some of my answers are long at times, some would be very terse and short: "RUN WITH WHAT YOU GOT", or
"DID IT FIX IT?". Some CANNOT BE JUSTIFIABLY ARGUED as CORRECT without a long sometime BORING dissertation. WAIT till you go into the Corporate world when a SHORT answer is sometimes EVEN frowned upon by upper management and thus draws more fire across the table than a thorough LONG ANSWER COMPLETE in EVERY MINUTE detail.. I try to leave you saying: "WOW, IT IS RIGHT! Thanks".

Look Gary, you know I am and have been more than gracious at many times. As one Mod put it I am a **** human not a machine, as you are. In the future your "??" will never ever again be put on a timer, as you think I was doing to make an issue. I have a ton of stuff going on in my life as some know me personally in here can attest.

Us older dudes WILL NOT BE HERE forever, ESPECIALLY ME! So enjoy the INSANITY and wild weird humor I do bring in here. I BRING IT TO AN ALREADY INANE, ARCHAIC, and asinine world without much hope! LOL

In other words just blow it off. I never really mean the arrogant stuff. I get ticked like all people do. Good thing you have guys like GS, SD, RD, and Ricktobin. These guys LIVE for this, as I try to also.
I guess that is all, let me know if you need any files. I will email ASAP if possible.

Tomcat, Gary's comment was towards me, nobody else.

I made a comment, that was really not needed.

Gary, don't hesitate to ask about something you don't know about, or unsure of. My comment was unneeded and unwarranted, and I apologize, and edited it.

I'll be the first to admit, that I say some things, that didn't need to be said. That was one, I regret. But I will also, be the first to humbly apologize, for my actions/words.

My sincere apologies........Don't make it the death of your visiting with us.

check out new Topic in missed appr. by me:

Sub tragedy under Artic ice, HMS Tirelss disaster today! Just in: 2 sailors dead, 1 critical, in joint USN/UK excercise, Nuke F/A sub. See post, links and download in honor of these "Fallen Brave Heroes of the Sea"

PS: I got a pm from Gary, he was somehat miffed at all of us, but he is 43 and is carrying a heavy load, like most of us men do these days.

He thanks all of us, he will be back, get his email from the REGISTRATION dB and send him an invite back. It is the right thing to do I THINK, imho..

WE NEED TO HAVE AGES put on bbs as a MANDATORY NEED to discern
the communication level to use for each target user. It is the only way to truly prevent this from happening. In public speaking classes in college, they teach us to KNOW your RECEIVER of the message.

How can we do that with no age given?

We are at a constant disadvantage.

There is a DISTINCT difference in APPROACH & TONE when communicating with adults & youth under 18. This is a fact!
Just my humble opinion for a solution set TRAPMASTER.
