I've been using an F14D to takeoff and land on the carriers, but I was wondering what mods I'd have to make in order for some of the other planes I have to be able to catapult and trap.
Thanks. |

haha STEVE, i get 1st c r a c k, though you know more than me :p
1st off you need RCBCO-20, and Abacus Arrestor Cables for FS2002 / 2004 (depening on your version) the cables program comes with Flight Deck 3 which is now a free download but i do not know the link, sorry.
other than this, all you need is a plane that can trap and cat. |

Easist way to do this, if you don't mind whether the panel is original or not, is to put the F-14D panel into the a/c that you want to cat-N-trap.
Otherwise, as Propwash suggested, you can get and use RCBCO-20 and the UP file. No need for the Abacus Arrestor Cables or flight deck 3.
Just read the readme for the RCBCO-20, very carefully, and you will be able to cat-N-trap. You can also use this with any plane, whether or not it has a tail hook. Just make sure you put into the a/c .cfg, a "Tail Hook". It won't be visible, but it will trap you.

So even if the plane is WW2-era such as a Corsair, Hellcat, etc....you still need to use the rcbco-20? Seems kinda high-tech for a 60 year old taildragger.
No way to simply drop the hook and snag the wire? |

| Propwash, I did a google for Flight Deck 3. Apparently it is still payware ($29). |

I use Three Wire while doing carrier operations. With Three Wire all you have to do is drop the hook. Although I have noticed that it doesn't matter if the hook actually hits the wires. The main gear have to touch the deck within the wires. |

I'll look around for Three Wire, and thanks.
It's not that I dislike high-tech.....but these are old planes that seemed to do fairly well without it. |

Gary42127,
Next time, be more specific in what you want. Yes there is a difference on 60 year old prop planes, and todays jets.
Depends on what your flying, which YOU didn't say.
Next time be more specific on what your trying to do.

| Is RCBCO-20 freeware or payware. What about Abacus Arrestor Cables? |

FWIW.....I incorporated the RCBCO-20 catapult & arrestor gauges into the panel of my Bearcat, and it seems to trap just fine.
The launch wasn't for the faint of heart though. |

| For more realism of the old tail draggers, you dont have to use the catapult feature, just trap it on landing. Be sure to set your wind direction relative to t he carrier you are on......headwind people, headwind. |
