What does the letter in front of the airport ICAO stand for?

ex.
TNCM
KJFK

The 2 first letters stand for the country and the 2 last stand for the airport as far as I know.

Example: All airports in Denmark start off with EK. Copenhagen is EKCH.
EK is for Denmark and CH is for Copenhagen.

Anyways, it's just something I have thought about and *figured* out. I don't know if it's 100% correct, but it's my guess Wink
