Anyone know of a freeware utility out there that will allow me to slice up a sound file any way I like, into 5 and 6 second segments that I can then convert to those windows media files that flight Sim uses? I have some 3 minute files I need to make into engine whine sounds. They're sweeping, slowly ascending spacey 'whooosh' noises I came up with and they need to be small clips of several pitches of the sound curve. I'll have a look around too and post any links I find. |

Sorry Hark, but I have it built into my sound card. But I know you can do it with wavepad. Freeware if I remember right.

Thanks guys, just grabbed both programs and it looks like they'll do more than I had hoped for...looks like you can actually do some layering with different files. Very handy and saves my butt - my trial is up with 'Audiomulch' and I only exported the long files before running out of time. I captured 4 decent files and now I can do with them what I please, perfect.
(Wait 'till you hear them....one would be perfect for a big, powerful futuristic space-transport, a few mixed together would be amazing for the runabout that I'm half-done now, and one or more mixed together might be suitable for 'The Silver Surfer'...he'll be the hardest to build a believeable sound file for. For the runabout I'm dying to try the default 'Lear45' jet 'combustion' sounds with my 'engine whine' sounds. I haven't had a successful 'custom' sound file of my own in FS yet...if it works anything like I hear in my head it will be a buzz, especially the first time the aircraft loads in FS9 with virgin sound from me.) CRANK IT!!!! |
