Is anyone experiencing lousey frame rates with FSX? I have a quite powerful desktop....2.8ghz P4 2 ghz memory; Nvidia 6800 Ultra AGP 8X video card and I can't get much more that 7-8 fsp with the std Cessna 172 on take off and climbs. I don't have settings maxed either. Does anyone have some good setup instructions for fps in the 18-20 fsp range. I'm not asking that much but it seems every time MS releases a new release the hardware has to go up too!!! Looking at their web page and minimum hardware I'll bet you couldn't even start a engine configured like that !!!
Cheers

Welcome to Surlcaro (i think you are new, right?)
change your settings then, no one gets high frame rates for FSX also an AGP 8x will not be very good when DX10 is released.
All you will most likely get on these forums when asking about your FPS is experiment with your settings. I have a 7800gt and it runs from FSX, so i switched back to FS9.
also i think your mean 2 gb of memory>"2 ghz memory" |

read the back of the FSX box. it will work with Win XP HOME, but is made for WINDOWS VISTA GAMING. Also, your video card is a DX9 card... for FSX to pump out 19-22 fps like FS9 does, you need a DX10 card, not the upgraded drivers, but the actual card. you will also need more than 3Gigs of ram, and at least a 4Gig processor for FSX to really shine. Everyone is having your problems cause MOST Everyone has computers that is more than 2 years old. My suggestion is quit trying to tweak FSX unless you move the sliders back to the left to give your machine a rest, and go buy a new computer that has all the newest and best goodies, and can actually handle the punishment that you want to give it.
Also, there are god knows how many topics on "why cant i have good fps in FSX", "HELP! My FSX is too slow", ... why why why -- FSX... it is not the simulator that is your problem, it is your computer.
Maybe if **RD** sees this, he can let you know what he has, being that he is 1 of about 5 people i know that can actually get 3/4 decent frames in FSX cause he went out and bought a new computer. (i have no clue of his specs, but he can tell you if he sees this, and if he wants to) |

Check out my topic I made. Apparently people have ignored for some reason. Maybe I'm invaluable? Who knows? Yet, people ask the same question. Grrrrrr

edit by groundsquirrel: maybe they just liked their topic better. maybe somebody told them you let the cat play in your sandbox. who knows? anyway, if I had a penny for every topic that was doubled/tripled/repeated/multi-threaded/etc. , I would have enough money for a nice caribbean cruise.

Ooops....Sorry I missed this one.
OK, 2 things. I have 3 computers. This one you see me here on now. My business one, which is a MAC ( and does NOT apply to this). And my third, is my Super Rig.
hwh888.....Your system, I would consider a bare bones OS for FSX. Your 2 gb of memory is fine. But what is hurting you is your speed, as well as G-Card, from what I can tell with what you posted. You didn't say whether your card is 128, 256, or 512 mb. As it does make a difference. Your MoBo, will also make a difference, on how fast it works.
Post up a full spec on what you have please.
MY SUPER RIG specs:
OS (Operating System).....Vista Ultimate
CPU.................................AMD Athlon 64 x2, 4600+
M/B (Mother Board)..........ASUS A8N-SLI
G-Card............................Nvidia...Not released, as it is a BETA tester for Nvidia. It is DX10 Compatible. And I also am Beta testing DX10 at the same time.
RAM................................4 gb Corsair DDR 400
HD (Hard Drive)...............750gb Maxtor SATA
PS ( Power Supply)..........1000w
Fans (5).........................All fans, 120mm. 2 at front pulling air, 2 at rear, and 1 on rear side, to push out.

robbiedew101:
It is going to be a very busy weekend for me.
I volunteered to work at the St. Petersburg Honda Grand Prix on Saturday. Half of the race will occur on the Albert Whitted Airport property.

If I still have any hearing left, I will probably drive over to the Airfest at MacDill AFB on Sunday. |
