Today i was having lower frame rates in FS9, and decided to check my temps, the GPU was 60C, Shocked the cpu was hotter than normal but i need to replace my liquid for the cpu cooling (gpu is cooled by stock cooler). I used Lavalys home edition to read my temps. I powerd down for a good 2 hours and still my temps were in the 56C range, without games or anything running. I'll take the card out monday to blow out any dust, but what are the other reasons for a sudden spike in temps. I have around 7-9 fans in my computer and have had no prior spikes. Any other suggestions are welcomed. the card is a BFG Tech 7800gt fan is on full and is not overclocked.

Does your card have a fan on it?

yes to the fan, i took the heatsink off, and all of the old thermal gel and replaced it with arctic silver, but my mouse is being stupid, and my water cooling is not water cooling. Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad
I need to replace my chilling liqiud ASAP. I do not know if the GPU has cooled down since what i did above. My computer is shutting down due to the CPU temps in the 60C range. I am starting to really hate water cooling!!! Confused

Yeah, it may be just accumulation of dust. Clean out all dust everywhere in the case, not just the graphics card fan.

I don't think it's the GPU overheating since Nvidia GPUs run pretty cool compared to ATI GPUs Wink

I know the CPU was causing the shut downs. I also know that the GPU was running at its core slowdown temp. I ordered new liquid coolant and cleaned out my liquid cooling system. I also took my computer outside a gave it a good air compressing. Now it is just sitting waiting for the new coolant with re-arranged wires and re-routed water lines for better performance. Will post new temps when the coolant arrives and is chilled in the fridge Laughing .

What are you currently clocking your card at?

I would be surprised if I had it at the same clock but had a sudden spike in temperatures unexpectedly.

default i think 450core/1050mem, when i took off the heat sink for the card, there was dust blocking the fan from blowing/sucking are to/from the heatsink, which caused the sudden spike i hope.
