| It's been a wile since I started using FS2004, and untill now the main thing that upsets me in the game, it's the lack of my regional airplanes in "my" airport. I already have all the airplanes from that especific airline (Air Portugal [Tap]) and I was wondering if I could turn them into AI planes? Can anyone explain me how do I put planes AI? |

For FS02, there were several AI tools. I'm not quite up to date with FS04 so far. BUT:
Both in FS02 and FS04 forum there are SEVERAL threads about this and similar questions, I know that, cause I was the one who answered. So please have a look around here. I remember recently one of us wrote there was the possibility to use a program called TTools. There also has to be AFCAD for FS04 because I quite often find AFCAD files in FS04 add ons.
Without being impatient or unfriendly, I guess others did not reply yet because their fingers bleed from writing about this.
By the way: Welcome aboard, Sherlock!
The Rhythmosaur

Dear Sherlock,
Please accept my sincere( well sort of) apology for not assisting you in your darkest hour. Sadly my PC is too slow to run AI planes so I shut all that stuff off. And as I do not run AI traffic, I have not looked at the AI editors. But for real, welcome to Surclaro Forums. I hope that Rhythmosaur has helped you as much as he has helped all of the rest of us. Knowing him, he offers great advice. Good luck with your AI problem

| To work with AI in FS2004 you will certainly need TTools. This program is the "engine room" that decompiles the traffic.bgl file that controls the AI traffic when the sim is running into 3 files - aircraft.txt airports.txt and flightplans.txt which you can work on with any notepad type program to add, delete or change any of the 3 above and then compiles a new traffic.bgl file and replaces the one in your FS2004 - Remember to BACKUP your original traffic.bgl file so that you can just replace it if you run into problems. - There are a few programs around that make it easier to work with your AI but as far as I know ALL of them rely on TTools to decompile/recompile the traffic.bgl file. I use Yroute from Spacejock Software to add, delete or change my aircraft, airports and flightplans. You will have to work your way through the Readme with TTools for a while before you get comfortabl with things. Yuo will also have to get AFCAD2 - not AFCAD which only works with FS2002 - as AI aircraft wont work if the airports are not set up correctly. It takes a fair bit of work but you can get pretty convincing AI in the end Tony |

I'll put this here because I just learned, through trial and error, how to do this.
I went to avsim.com and downloaded ttools for FS9. Then I downloaded AFCAD for FS9. Then I went to projectai.com and downloaded their AI installer, which makes things extremely easy to do. Then I just downloaded their airline packages and the AI installer did all the work for me.
It took me a couple hours to figure out how to do it, but now I have about 15 airlines' worth of AI traffic.
Makes the game very nice.
Now if I could just find some good aircraft for me to fly, all will be good. |

Well, the Rhythmosaur has written some fine reviews about really good planes. You should look into those. If you like vintage planes, look for Paul Clawson's planes if you want a pretty nice external model. No VC and fairly simple cockpits, but the outsides are pretty darn cool. (To me anyway, and I have a bug for cool vintage models.) |
