I found a pretty cool site that runs a somewhat (about a 30 second delay supposedly) live audio and radar display of Atlanta approach. I found it interesting for anyone that hasn't seen it yet.

Just to verify it was actually live, I took a couple of the flight numbers from the radar display, went to the airlines website's and checked the flight numbers and yes, in fact, it is live.

Rick, thanks for the link. My boss thanks you as well, as I am addicted to that site and my productivity has markedly decreased. Laughing

Anyway, is there any site that could aid me in identifying some of the airlines and types of aircraft?

For instance, I'm not sure what airline JZA is and what aircraft they use. Some I have figured out on my own, like AWI and CAA, and then there are the obvious.

Thanks again for that link, and thanks in advace for any help wrt my questions.

Hey gatordave25...no problem at all. Tell your boss I said "sorry"...that's too funny.

If you have the radar screen up, click on the link on the right side of the page 'Info, Data, and Charts'...on the new page that opens click on FAA Designators and Callsigns. You should get a page titled '7340.1W CONTRACTIONS' scroll down to Chapter 3, that'll give you a listing of the 3 letter airline codes (ie. AAL-American, UAL-United, and some not so familiar
SNH-Sunshine Air out of Sri Lanka...). As far as the type of A/C I'm not sure, I haven't found anything.

I found something interseting in the FAQ area concerning the A/C labeled 'BLOCKED' on their data tags. Some people I guess thought it was either Air Force One or some sort of secret military flight or whatever. Turns out it's only a VIP or some sort of star that doesn't want their whereabouts known to anyone watching.

I wondered about that, as there seem to be a ton of those that go into Atlanta. I can hear the contoller call out the tail number, and can ascertain who he's talking to. That's really interesting.

Thanks for the heads-up about the other info.

Is THE BEST Live ATC web page for listening to ATC from all over the world. There are some pretty good Flight Tracking web sites if you want to track the a/c.

Hey guys,

Next time you're flying FS, load up one of those feeds in the background. It makes for great-sounding chatter... I use it with Radar Contact 4 and FSPassengers.

There are some servers that also have a TeamSpeak address so you can talk to live interactive ATC while you're flying.
