Guys,

Please help. It seems that now everytime I am landing at any airport, the ATC options once I am instructed to contact ground, only allow me to "taxi for takeoff". When I push "1" which opens up the take-off options, at the bottom of the list it gives "option 8 - taxi-to-parking". However, as soon as I click on it... it does not let me get any options.

I have found myself just randomly picking a gate that isnt occupied to dump my passengers off at (btw... I'm always using FSpass). Now, get this.... as soon as I put on my parking brake at the gate.... now all the sudden... "taxi-to-gates" options come up...?? hmmm?? does anyone have this kind of problem as well? Its actually frustrating.... and luckily for me.. FSPass doesnt penalize if you happen to park at the wrong gate!! ha ha.... and whatever you do...... when using FSPASS..... DO NOT put the parking brake on at any time until you get close to a gate!! lmao!! I've almost busted my entire computer in anger as my stewardess tells my passengers "the captain has declared an emergency exit, please use the nearest exit to evacuate immediately"!!! AAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHH this happened once after i flew a 4 hour flight and it completely wasted it!!!!

this happens to me too but when I asked i got no respond that helped me fix it u r just going to hope that when u actually land that u can get the option to go to the gate. I think there is a way to fix it but u just have to wait maybe someone knows. The funny thing is that when I do a Low Altitude VFR flight the gate option always is there but when I do an IFR, sometimes its there and sometimes its not lol.

For some reason, if you are still rolling off the runway onto a taxiway in IFR flight, that option will not come up. But if you hit the brakes once off the runway and stop on the taxiway, talk to ATC req. parking - it will show up. Only does it sometimes...don't know why but hopefully there's a fix for ya!

Well...I'm sure a lot of our members here that can blow me away with the real knowledge of why and how on this issue will respond but here's my take on it. In a busy airport, traffic control is really important. You can't have planes landing and rolling off the runway to a gate at Mach 2. Would take away the control factor for traffic and also stress a lot of people out. So...you land, get your bun off the runway and hold on the taxiway so you can be guided as to the best time and safest moment to continue taxi. If you were to continue rolling, especially onto an adjacent runway...well...then you'd be flying like I do...no rules or logic.

Sure, fire off a bug report...worse they can do is not respond. Smile

well... crap...

there ya go exxman... making me feel like a complete tool and now realizing I've probably been scaring all my virtual passengers and *beep* off all those virtual traffic controllers (and possibly other virtual aircraft lol) by just rolling my big fat 757 butt randomly onto other traffic ways and runways!! lmao!! Now that you say it... that's probably the real reason.. (*beep* computer has gotten TOO REAL!!! it even simulates controller's possible work and stress loads!!! ) Shocked boy that's scary... where's all this technology going to go next..????

.......... possibly real pilots sitting at home on MSFS 2010 and flying our REAL flights?? lmao!!?? Laughing wow..... ok... i'm ready to get off my soapbox now...

but seriously.......exxman... don't talk down your opinions too much.... i've seen some people on these forums with explanations that would make the "family guy" writers want to put into their next episodes!!! (I mean.. waaayyy out there explanations!!! dont make any sense... whew!!! ) Shocked

soo.... I would chalk your suggestion up as "REAL" advice!! thanks exxman

Mister Exx really knows what he is talking about. I remember reading about the various Runway and Taxiway signs. Some of the Taxiway signs require that "arriving" traffic also has to yield at various signs.

Check out these free videos from John and Martha King. You may have to set up an account and password. However, it is free and the videos are excellent:

You will find the answer to your question by scrolling down to the bottom right and click on the video for TAXI. It confirms what Exxman just told you.Cool Cool

Without looking at the video's, here is my logic.
When landing, you are controlled by the TOWER. They own/control the runway and some airspace off the ends of the runway.
Once you turn off the runway, you are controlled by GROUND CONTROL, they own the taxi ways and assign/ send you to the gates, parking or fuel pits.
That is why shortly after landing the "Tower" tells you to contact "Ground" on the given frequency, the tower is done with you at that point and you tune to ground to get direction to where ever it is you want to go.
That is my logic, thanks for playing Smile
