Re: Your Take on MS Flight

One other issue with Flight is that all add-ons and scenery will have to be purchased from Microsoft itself. The whole Flight installation is one big pak file that has a way of checking itself for unauthorized user modifications. That means no third party aftermarket add-ons, no customizing the plan...

Invisifying a yoke

I have a few aircraft in FSX in which the yoke obstructs the view of the HSI. I would like to redo the textures so that the yoke is invisible. I recently purchased the MAAM SIM DC-3 and I downloaded a replacement set of virtual cockpit textures that make the yoke invisible so I know it is possible t...

Re: Speed brake question

I found a very good freeware airfile editor called Aircraft Airfile Manager right here on this website. As you click on each item in the airfile it even gives an explanation and tells you which are no longer relevant in FSX. Unlike Air Wrench it only changes what I change and not various other setti...

Re: Speed brake question

I tried the payware program airwrench. It has sliders to adjust the lift and drag of the spoiler. When I opened the airfile with airwrench I noticed that the lift was set to a very negative setting and the drag was set very low. I set the lift at neutral and the drag higher to make it act like more ...

Speed brake question

What do I have to edit to make the speedbrake on an aircraft slow it down only without making it drop out of the sky like a rock. On some of my add on aircraft the speedbrake does what it is supposed to - it slows the aircraft down. On others it slows it down and also makes the rate of descent incre...

Re: FSX eyepoint question

Okay, I found an easy answer. I have some aircraft installed that have several camera views in the cockpit like first officer view, flight engineer view, jumpseat view, etc. When experimenting with Track IR I noticed that I can move these views around with Track IR just as easily as it moves the reg...

You have to add the line yourself. FSX uses the default value of 0.33 unless you add a line to change it. Make sure you use the exact syntax with the underscores

How I got a BIG increase in frame rates

I have owned a copy of FSX since it first went on sale and over the last few years I have read many internet forums on how to increase frame rates and I have tried many of the techniques described in them. Recently I tried one that gave me almost a threefold increase in frame rates in dense scenery ...

Weird AI

I was flying a 767 using a panel that has a TCAS on the navigational display. Among other data the TCAS shows the altitude and airspeed of the AI planes it displays. While over northwestern Wyoming the TCAS showed a 737-800 goiing 1090 knots at 68,000 feet. I switched to spot plane view to read the ...

I did delete the fs9.cfg from the hidden folder but it didn't help. I did replace the fs9.exe in the main folder with my backup but it didn't work either. I did not get any error messages but something weird did happen. The first time that it did not work fs9 kept opening multiple instances of itsel...

Does anyone know of a decent Airbus panel for the A320 family for FSX? It doesn't matter whether its freeware or payware I just want something better than the default panel. There are some really good freeware Airbus models and textures out there but 99% of them use the default A321 panel which leav...

The utilities in you link deal with tweaking frame rates by working with different scenery settings. My computer has enough resources to run FS9 at 70-100 FPS with all sliders maxed out however I am still plagued by blurry textures. There seems to be something in the coding of FS9 that is not compat...

Another method to fight the blurries?

I have read numerous threads on various boards and tried what they suggested but to no avail. Has anyone experimented with cr...

AI traffic problem

I have created AI traffic for a number of airports using the method I used for FS9. I created the 3 required text files for the airports, aircraft, and flight plans. I used ttools to make the text files into a bgl file and placed it in the scenery/world/scenery folder. When I started FSX my aircraft...

A lot of it has to do with the thrust to weight ratio as well. I have routinely seen FedEx Airbus A300-B4-605R's taking off and landing in Baton Rouge using only two thirds the amount of runway that the much smaller Canadair Regional Jets use at that same airport.
