Tenspace: Yeah, that sounds about right. That must be some kind of physiological thing. The only reason I wouldn't trust an instrument would be because I suspect a problem with it. All of the instruments in that 152 were fine. I have to admit, I was only just a tad bit nervous during the flight bec...

Easy. Open a web browser, load up the ATC, minimize it, start up flight sim and start flying. I turn off the FS2004 ATC (because of Radar Contact). Radar contact has chatter, both computer generated (goofy sounding) and recorded (better, but not accurate to your area).

FSPilot, as I'm sure Max will back me up, never trust your butt..err.. seat of the pants feelings. Have your instructor put you in a thirty degree bank and fly circles for a few minutes. Then level out. You'll swear that you are banked, severely, in the opposite diretion. That's all it took for me t...

Hey guys,

Next time you're flying FS, load up one of those feeds in the background. It makes for great-sounding chatter... I use it with Radar Contact 4 and FSPassengers.

That's the transponder code assigned by ATC. Squawk VFR means set your transponder to 1200. Squawk 5533 means just that - set your transponder to 5533.

The transponder helps the ATC identify you on their radar.

RD, here's some troubleshooting advice, FWIW: 1) If you press the power switch and nothing happens. Make sure there is good power coming out of the end of the plug going into the power supply. If the power is good, make sure the on/off switch on the PSU is on (if it has one... some don't). Also doub...

GS, my favorite has to be the A-10 range, which is just northeast of my house. It starts with a chuka chuka sound as the gun winds up. Then you hear a deep whirring, almost a vibration in the air. Finally the ground shakes with many small thuds as those massive bullets hit the ground. It's also cool...

(Of course, anywhere in the panhandle is close to Eglin, it's so darn big) :)

Yep, my neighbor's got it right. If you hit the E key, it will select a single engine. Great for power-taxi turns, but not really good in the air. I think hittin E followed by the engine numbers will reset the control to all engines. Pres E, 1, 2 in rapid succession to select both engines (or, E 1, ...

Sounds like the plane iced up. Always turn on the deicers in fogs.... Not at 18c... I attributed the crash to: 1) runway length - short runway caused me to rotate prior to reaching v1. 2) weight - the plane was maxed at 100% capacity 3) Ground Effect - I was able to liftoff, but once the plane reac...

Umm... where's the lightning texture

I installed, then uninstalled one of the "photorealistic" lighning enhancers.. don't remember whose it was, just that it sucked. After uninstalling, all my lightning now appears as rectangles and crosses. Where, (Groundsquirrel, I'm thinking you know off the top of your head) are the original lightn...

Where Shall I Fly Tonite?

Any suggestions for a cool place to visit tonight? I'm leaning towards the PIC 737 (as always!) or possibly a seaplane. Last night I was up in Alaska near PAMC(?) - found actual holes in the water. Maybe I'll visit Mt. Pacific, or some of the other anomalies. I love brining the 737 into cool airport...

Do you have FSUIPC installed? If you don't have the latest version, then you can have problems with PIC737. Now, you don't need FSUIPC for PIC, but if you're using it for other programs, then there could be a problem if it's not at least version 3.53. BTW, you shouldn't need additional software for ...

Hmm.. no joy from Feelthere? Victor's usually really good about solving problems.

I'm having one myself with the EHSI which I haven't tackled yet. The "RTE DATA" button no longer displays route data. Not a big deal, but it would be nice if it worked.

Guess I'll have to hit up Feelthere.

First bring up the EHSI control panel

SHIFT-8

Then click the WX button below the scale knob. That shoudl turn on the weather radar. Give it a couple of minutes to initialize, and you should see weather patterns overlaid on your display.

Based on everyone's replies, it looks to me that it boils down to this: if you are flying vfr or visual approaches, you're using VC. If you are in the clouds, or flying instrument approaches, you're using the 2D. It's nice to have both of them. Could you imagine an instrument flight using nothing bu...

Bball, open the side of your PC case and look for the box, probably at the top in back, that has all those electrical wires coming out of it. That's the power supply. I'm guessing it's in FSPassengers. Might be a bug, or a repair issue. Do you "End Flight" after each, or do you just fly the routes without ever reloading the plane? Have you looked at the FSPassenger's Company Manager for any clues? Have you tried MANUALLY lowering the gears? (I think it's CTRL-SHF...
