Heh heh. the monitor sure does make a difference. I just bought a used 17' flat screen CRT after looking at a fuzzy 15' for years. WOW! I didn't realize that I could bump my FS2002 resolution up to 1152 x 864 x 32 with a new display. what a difference. I also took someone's advice from this forum an...

Good old Gravis...

O.K. I am eventually going to buy a killer force feedback joystick but I've been using a Gravis Blackhawk digital for years and you can't beat it. It's ergonomic, has all the buttons and a hat switch, it always centers nicely, it responds just right and does'nt feel light or spongey, it always works...

I think a reboot helps no matter what O/S you are running. I have W2000 on a PIII and the whole thing acts goofy if Idon't reboot once every few hours. For starters a reboot clears out your RAM and refreshes your internet connection, I think.

Umm, Nexiss, is your avatar picture a screenshot from FS2004? I have FS2002 and am looking forward to a new PC and FS9. If that's a screenshot I'm going to accelerate my plans! I've always thought that a fighter kicking up the water like that was way too cool, nice shot!

Hee hee....I just reread my earlier post here and realized that I used the word 'coasting' in reference to travelling @ mach 4. That North American XB-70 Valkyrie flies so nice that it seems like you're coasting into the lower atmosphere meanwhile the FS camera can't pan around to the side view 'cau...

Hence my pc coughing up a hairball when I try and fly an Opensky 747, or the Millenium Falcon. (PIII-550, 'sob')

Well, to be fair, some of the combat flight sims are gamey while offering realistic flight dynamics...screaming around in an F-18 with all the weapons and radar, etc. accurately depicted is a rush. Jane's flight sims have provided hours of fun without being goofy and arcade-like. The microsoft Fligh...

My first thought when you say BLOCKY is that somewhere, despite other settings in FS 2004 you have dropped your resolution setting and not brought it up again. Check in display settings for 800 x 600 x 32, or 1024 x 768 x 32 or whatever. Make sure your resolution is set as high as your setup will st...

Thanks for some good info folks, I'm going to put a system together soon and would have naturally gone with an AGP card, but will have to do some research first by the sound of things! Hey Exxman, I remember Pete Townsend talking in an interview way back about a gig that The Who played with a pile o...

I have found that with diligent tweaking and endless patience going in and out of 'settings' while flying around I reached a point where I couldn't get the framerates any better without dropping the goodies and levels that I found essential. Funny enough, dropping down to 800 x 600 from the next hig...

I have seen a current download somewhere that apparently enables a tailhook on any aircraft. In the file description it is explained that no tailhook is visible but the text banner does appear on screen claiming "tailhook extending" or whatever. I haven't tried it yet, I downloaded the file at one t...

Thanks folks, I'll look into these programs and try to find time for some brainwork. It must be quite satisfying to create, configure and paint a successful aircraft. I'm thinking scenery design would be fun too. Great forum, a whole new world for me, all the downloads and possibilities offered onli...

Is there free aircraft creating software available...

Hi all.. I would love to create my own fantasy aircraft for FS2002, is there free software available that allows you to do this without a friggin' 2 month learning curve or am I being naive hoping for freeware of this type? And if I do decide to fork out for some 3D aircraft developing software can ...

I have been running and enjoying FS2002 for a while now...here is my short wish list for the future of FS... Can't they put some land traffic booting around the countryside and in the cityscapes? I want the option to reach orbit with some of the faster aircraft (Fantasy or otherwise), I don't know a...
