Boy, my PC is barely able to run FS9 decently, forget FSX for a while 'til I can swing a real computer! And to think about it, you'll notice the viewer count waxing and waning according to all types of real-world stuff. Probably less viewership in summer months, occasionally, some weekends people ar...

I wonder if it's jus...

Yeah, it's always a buzz to get your own models into the simulator, aircraft or scenery. It's not addicting or anything. I can stop any time I want.

I've blundered through texturing techniques now so many times that I'm pretty good at it, if you get stuck just holler. Gmax just kills me sometimes though...the absolute worst are the times gmax just refuses to open the scene at all next time you try after saving who knows how much work. Yup - save...

Hi there...in XP when you go to 'Documents and Settings' and then open your user folder, you need to go to the top toolbar and open 'TOOLS'. Then select 'Folder Options', go to 'View' and scroll down to enable a little bullet called 'Show hidden Files and Folders'...then hit 'Apply'. Now all the fol...

Hiya, welcome to our fine forum. Look at all the suggestions in this post over at Free Flight Design Shop, I'm trying to remember what the issue was in my case but it's fuzzy. I believe I just got rid of some newly-created, questionable materials in gmax, and the next export went fine. http://www.ae...

You should be able to drop the sound folder from another chopper into the Dauphin's main folder. Just choose a sound file you like, or that seems to suit your soundless one.

Sorry, been busy busy. I really enjoyed this one, and you can tell RD had fun with it...in other words he made the old livery work wonderfully on a new airliner, it all comes together really well. It's one of the nicer paint schemes I've seen in a while, and the distinctive striping on the nose look...

Yeah, I remember using a little program called 3ds2mesh, or something like that to get meshes into orbiter. Consider looking into Anim8or, you may find yourself building stuff that would be much more difficult in gmax, in much less time. Anim80r is just easier to look at - sometimes I get tired of g...

From what I know of the FS 9 SDK's, you select the particular ones for what you are trying to do, then install them on your system. Sometimes the SDK is just lists and definitions and explanations of how things work in FS, written by the folks that designed FS. Other SDK's will include the applicati...

I was under the impression that you were building a scenery object, that you could land on. I know a technique for that, which will work for FS9 & FSX. The 'Attachtool' is an easy to install and run script for gmax that lets you select individual polygons to harden into different types of landing su...

Yeah, you know how it is, you get stuff done bit by bit, over a period of time...and before you know it you're almost done a cool add-on for FS! Not too long before it becomes addicting to some.

Not me though.

Nope.

Just curious, do you use the 'attachtool' to harden the landing surface polygons in gmax?
