Hey, back to flight sim talk, alright? In response to the first few responses, I can definitley tell a major difference from 40fps to 60fps. We all use different monitors, so this could explain why some may not notice a difference, but I can tell a HUGE difference. Perhaps you are noticing the diff...

1080p HD video is run at about 29.97 frames per second (well, at least under 30 that's for sure).

If the sudden jump from 50 to 35 bothers you, lock your frame rates at 35 instead.

I can fly FSX on my laptop only on bare bones settings, but i can fly FS9 Balls-to-the-wall wide open... so i stick to FS9 98% of the time. I like the Heli's in FSX being there is a Police Heli and well, i like to make up stuff and try to chase the cars on the highways.. lol but anyways, FSX is alm...

This has me stumped, the common factor between both craft, is Water. Both mine work fine. The only other question we must consider XP v Vista. Mel. XP vs Vista shouldn't make a difference. Many aircraft are programmed as not water-floatable. You'll need to check out the aircraft.cfg (I forgot the s...

Re: buying/building a custom pc?

well there was no need to yell. i know that. but if you want an agp game to work properly you would need an agp graphics card. because games that say it needs agp on the box for the system requirements do not work properly on a pci card. i know this because i have tried it. I'm not talking about PC...

Define AGP games? Games can play on any graphics card. It just depends on the performance you will get out of it. On a traditional PCI video card, the performance will be less. On AGP, it will be higher, and on PCI-Express, it will be even higher.

Keep in mind AGP is old technology. The reason why you thought AGP was better is because traditional PCI is slower than AGP.

That's PCI. PCI is slower than AGP. Here's how the lineup is, from fastest to slowest. PCI-Express, AGP, PCI. For most video cards, the standard is PCI-Express 2.0 x16, a far more superior and better technology. Any game can play on it. What kind of performance do you want out of a new computer? If ...

Why does the motherboard need an AGP slot? It is slow and it is discontinued technology.

The list I provided already has a video card, but it uses PCI-Express 2.0 x16, a far more superior technology.

But I can give you a cheaper list though, just give me some time.

I wouldn't be able to do that. I'm a bit busy and building a PC and sending it off is not easy for me to do. But building one is rather easy actually. If you can take a stretch (around 511 USD) on your budget, this one should perform FS9 pretty well. The graphics card is on the skimpy side though. h...

The HP laptop will not be able to give you good performance in FSX, but the Alienware will.

Do be aware, that FSX will NOT run on the highest settings on the laptop. It is VERY CPU and Graphics intensive.

No, put FS9.exe on some sort of a "disable" or "exclude" or something of the sort, on the Windowsblinds list. If not, then disable Windows blinds. That is the cause of the settings issue.

There is a decent setup. Notice that it is very expensive. Some key things to note: I went with triple channel 6GB RAM, because that is what i7 uses--triple channel, instead of dual channel. 64 bit operating system. Why? You are using more than 3GB of ram, so you'll need 64 bit. Although it is costl...
