Looks like this thread died a while back. Well, I didn't want to make a whole other topic to say this, but CessnaFlyer182 and I are the same person. I had totally forgotten my password to my surclaro account, never remebered it, and never could figure out how to delete CessnaFlyer182. I ended up hav...

How can I repaint?

Hey everybody. I think I'm goint to try to repaint some planes myself. So I ask: What do I have to do and (or) download to be able to repaint planes by myself? Does it cost anything? Thanks for any help! :)

I don't know much about airliners, but while reading a "History of Aviation" book, I looked at an anatomy of a fighter. It had a long needle on the nose, and it was an 'Air Data Probe', I think what it was called. To me it could be some new technology to replace the pitot tube or something. This thr...

Chalk4: I used to suffer from the blurry graphics, too. Here's what I did: Go into settings-display-hardware. Turn up the Max Texture Size. It fixed the blurriness that I was dealing with. It made the model of the plane look great and the virtual cockpit is actually usable with that slider turned up...

AI does something funny.

I just have to you all what the AI did to me a couple of weeks ago. It's pretty funny, too. I started off in a Curtiss Jenny at some large international airport. Right when the flight started, I heard someone in a Learjet announcing takeoff......on the runway I was on! I throttled up and tried to ta...

Yes, if you leave the cowl flaps closed, the cylinder head temperature will get very high. Cowl flaps don't control how much air blows over the engine, but how much air leaves the cowl after it cools the engine. If the cowl flaps are open, any hot air that's been heated from cooling the engine can e...

I have one problem and one problem only with the checkride! And that is steep turns! As far as the examiner on flight sim telling you what to do, well there's a cold hard truth to that: The examiner that's watching you isn't 100% accurate. I figured this out after doing exactly what it told me to wi...

Let's see... I primarily fly the Skylane on FS9, it has a nav/gps switch. I don't know about any Boeings, but when I flip the switch to "GPS", my VOR1 indicator begins showing how much I'm on or off the GPS course instead of a VOR course. It may be the same for all planes. :)

Wow.... that frame rate improver really did allow me turn up the settings a notch or two. Thanks groundssquirrel. I am now running 35 fps with scenery complexity up to "dense". Frame rate improver? I'd better get to looking for that if it works. I tweaked flight sim a little and got rid of some unneccesary programs (some with a 1,000MB size) and it ran better. I can now turn scenery complexity up to 'normal' and it didn't hurt it. I'm flying in a slightly more realistic en...

I fly airplanes, so I don't have much to say here, but..... Helicopters are naturally unstable and are very difficult to handle, even in calm conditions. Response to bromster: I talked to my brother about it and he said that the computer could be opened up and just have another card put in. In order to make the VC appear less blury, I cranked up the Global Max Texture Size. It is still somewhat blury after I did this, but it's way more acceptable, and it didn't seem to slow my computer down any. However, to get even more out of it (not much of a difference, to be honest), I turned up t...

Hey everyone, How are ya? I've been flight simming for a while now, with over 150 hours of time with it. But, my experiences with flight sim hadn't been as realistic as they can be. Thanks for the link, Boissevain. But unfortunetly they didn't have a 182 with glass cockpit. I know there's one here on surclaro, but the VC isn't glass cockpit and the flight dynamics are sorta messed up (it banks very abruptly unexpectedly).

As far as I know, Ctrl+X "auto refueling" will only work if the Flying Tip box offers it. You must have 'Display Flying Tips' enabled. Ctrl+X also sets fuel mixture in piston engines if it's not leaned correctly. The key combination does several tasks, but to only the ones the flying tips box offers.

King of Air 350 has a good suggestion there. Grab a plane on flight sim that you're good with and show here how well you can fly around a couple of airports. Another tip: Use the ATC to make it more realistic. And another tip: Make sure you use a small plane, such as the Skyhawk. Don't show her how ...

Pretty much the main reason I watched the attitude was because off in the distance, everything looked real foggy and I couldn't quite make out a level horizon too easy. I know experience will cure this off and it'll eventually become easy to tell if I'm level or not.

By that I mean I mainly watched the attitude during manuevers. The visiblity wasn't too much so I couldn't make out the horizon to well to tell if I was level or not.
