iFDG vs. POSKY

Post by flyer_boy » Tue Nov 28, 2006 2:54 pm

Hey, I looked for a post discussing the advantages and disadvantages regarding POSKY and iFDG aircraft, but could not find one. Maybe my searching skills are poor, but could someone tell me if there is such a post?

I don't think there is any topic regarding that. So post away! ...
There is no place like 127.0.0.1

I don't think there are much because of the aircraft differences. I will compare based on FS2004
iFDG does not have 757s or 767s made for FS2004 properly, so therefore I will take them out the list.
iFDG has MD-11, A318, A320, and A321. Project Opensky has A330-200, A330-300, A340-200, A340-300, 737-600, 737-700, 737-800, 737-900, 737-900ER, 737-700C (with winglets, without winglets, with eyebrows, without eyebrows..)...., the 747-200, 747-300, 747-400, 757-200, 757-300, 767-200, 767-300, 767-400, CRJ-200, CRJ-900...
POSKY has more variety, with new CRJ700 and 747-SP and ERJ something POSSIBLY coming out soon...

the Posky models are very nice in detail but they lack in proper flight dynamics for example 767 is almost imposible to take of where the level d 767 can do no problem and level d is best, Ifdg 767 lacks majorly in modeling , the front is way off. Ifdg Airbus, and MD-11 are very good though infact super. Ifdg is a frame rate killer though. I prefer Posky boeings, and a330,340 but The small airbus deffiently IFDG posky doesnt have them. This is for you to decide in my opinion each has negatives and positives, Posky has superb modeling but horrible flightdynamics while IFDG is opposite.

So, lemme get this straight. Of the models that POSKY and iFDG both have, go with POSKY because of superior modeling.

So, would it be a good idea to combine the two? Air files from iFDG with models from POSKY.

but for me i prefer IFDG cause it has good flight dynamics and stuff whilst Poskys plans always slow down my framerates like sometimes the planes load but only Half of the paint sceme come on i have to load the aircraft again and it still slows down the frame rates. but the sim gets used to it after a few minutes. thats my opinion on them.

YES.

You can put the air.cfg from the IFDG into the POSKY a/c folder. Just make sure that in the POSKY a/c that you want to use it on, you change the cfg.

You can do it one of two ways. Put the IFDG .air file inside the POSKY a/c, and then edit the POSKY .cfg. Where it shows *sim= xxxxx* you put in the .air file from IFDG.

Or, you can make a duplicate, then rename it something like *POSKYIFDG.air*, then put it in place of the POSKY .air file. Or you could name it as it is as the POSKY's. Just make sure you make a back up of the original. Then copy/paste the new POSKY .air file.

If you know how everything works, and how to manipulate files and folders, this is very easy to do, and does work.

IE: I have a 747-400 that flies like an F-16. Not real, but is fun to fly.

I like IFDG

Post by 7e7guy » Sun Dec 03, 2006 1:00 am

I like IFDG because they have good flight dynamics and stuff and also all the buttons in the cockpit are pressable and they work while POSKY has non functional buttons like the Speed hold And somtimes the level hold they may have good graphics framrates and all around detail on the outside but if you are a serious flight simmer training for being a real airline pilot or somthing...

IFDG is the way 2 go!!!!!
