I hated to do it, but a long agonizing analysis of the three top shots left me little choice. They were all very good, so I had to get really picky. Dont hate me, just dont like me. After all, I thought mine was the best..... 8)

The year isn't over yet.

And yes, I was going to do a "Top Shot" contest of all the winners at the end of the year.

let me...

Post by groundsquirrel » Sun Jul 15, 2007 12:17 pm

Let me add (which I did not at the time of posting), that another deciding factor was number of times viewed....and the good ol' Phantom was way ahead in that category. So, choice of aircraft seems to be pretty important as well. I knew I was going to be on the short list with the Thud', but I have always been fascinated with it's size and the unique wing root engine intakes.

Reason me and Noddy us it alot is this. As it is payware, it is THE best modeled and detailed fighter you can get. Then mix in the paints by Gus R, and you have a texture that is above all others, with an aircraft above all others. Very hard no to use it. Plus the fact that it is very popular and well known.

Just my opinion, and I am sure Noddy will agree.

Have to agree with RD on this the Phantom of Alphasim is awesome! The repaints are very good as well. Mind you the Cloud9 and IRIS 'Toms are not far behind. All three are very different and have their good and bad points. So if you have a few pennies to spare check them out.

Noddy :D

It is late in the coming. And I spent alot of time saving pics from the August contest. I don't know what happened or why, and I don't care. But of the rules for August, to post up an "environment" style pic, it was between 2.
I did not favor anybody. I went solely on perspective, originality, concept, and total pic.

And 121a got the nod. Not by much, though.

GS had a great shot too, and deserves a "pic well done". Both shots are included with this post.

Hint to GS.... Get rid or cover up the messages....lol.

groundsquirrel wrote:Hey 'boisse-whatever, first, lose that signature 'cause you're losing my respect with it. I find it as annoying as telemarketers and the page already has enough ads on it. Second, "give 'em a chance"? are you kidding? You wouldn't get into a drag race against a super charged chevy with your vespa, would you? Well, maybe you would if they just "gave you a chance". Grow up dude.
First off.. Grow up? Is that what you have to say about my comment? Thing is, what causes Me to lose respect for You is the fact that you judge me on my age and try to enthrone yourself and make me look belittled.. And also the fact that you scowl at me because you think you're simply older and at a higher position than me and that I don't know sh*t (disagree? Please prove me wrong). At least, thats what you imply. (You know.. the only people that scowl at me are mommy and daddy (my gf scowls at me sometimes, but thats a different story)) And I really don't appreciate anyone else (even if it's the president of Apple Software Inc or the owner of Toshiba Computers), since its not your concern to do so, especially when everyone participating in this thread can read what you just said. (If you think I'm stupid, I don't have a problem with that. But I DO have a problem with that if you go and broadcast it advertising (with twist and orientation) how stupid I am).
I agree to what RD says.. People should be able to set up their settings to produce the best pictures. And yes, thank you very much, I AM mature enough to process in that small brain of mine what other people's points and comments are (if they make sense). And I apologize if I indirectly offended someone on this forum. But you are making it sound like only people with Ultras, or basically graphics Ferraris, can (or even deserve) make it to the top of this contest! (Again, disagree? Prove me wrong!) Which I expressed in my previous post to have disagreed with. Strongly, even.

Secondly.. Doesn't it seem pathetic to be arguing with a 16-yr-old? :) I mean.. with the age you are at.. shouldn't you be a bit too old to waste your time to prove to a 16-yr-old that a supercharged chevy should win a race against a vespa? Don't you have golf to play or a pension to set up or anything better to do?
I mean, to be honest, I certainly AM wasting my time writing this post because I certainly DO have better things to do than argue with a 45-yr-old why I hate it when old people scowl at young people.
More to it, I have math homework to finish, and an English Essay to write, as well as a literary analysis test on Sunday (for one of my english teachers, *beep*.. :( )

How you seem to be content about it.. How would you feel scowling at someone who would be a little older than you with the exact same post? (You don't have to tell me.. I already know the answer. Because I'm not as stupid and rock-dumb as you think).

I'm not going to belittle myself or kiss up to you in that regard simply because it does not deserve that kind of respect.
You want to know what kind of respect that deserves?
No, you don't want to know what kind of respect that deserves.

Lastly, I'll happily remove my signature, upon request. But scowling at me or trying to enthroning yourself my boss and trying to make me look rock-stupid forces me to think twice about it.
You can't just do whatever you want with me. I am a real human being. I have feelings and I don't like to be scowled at. Neither does anyone else on this forum. And as a human being, I don't deserve to be ordered, because this simply is not a military base, and we are not in military training.

Captain El

P.S. I hope you had your fun doing that.

P.S. Seriously, if you don't appreciate me... or don't show the kind of respect I deserve, I'll be gone from this forum. Forever.
Ban me. I seriously don't care, if you don't like what I just posted. And you will never have to hear from me again.. Because I am just standing up to what I believe in.
(If you do ban me, my last request would be to destroy this post as well as GS's post, because I don't want my grave to have 40mm shells in it)

I am serious folks! I cannot express enough how much I hate this kind of behavior. Especially from a high-level moderator, I expect more mature behavior than this! (BTW, your avatar doesn't seem very respectful either)

I wasted my entire 1 1/2-hr flex period (which is supposed to be my napnap-time) writing this.

I once again apologize to those of you who this does not concern, or if I have caused any inconvenience or indirectly offended anyone to whom this (directly or indirectly) concerns.

Well Noddy, congrats, for another win for another month.

Watch your back mate, I am coming for you. (In good spirits of course)

Really, congrats, and hope to see more from you.

C'mon all, we need your shots for the months coming. This is how it is done. If you have to, or need to, go to the screenshot forum, and look for the shots that have the high votes. Go back a year, so you know who the best are. We are there, and you can learn, to what makes a great s/s, without a super duper rig.

I want more members to join in.

Many thanks all for the very kind comments and for the votes. I really do appreciate it. Funny I actually thought the Phantom shot was better.

Oh no RD is after me, have to move again!!!!!!

Have to agree with RD, it has taken me a long time to to get my shots like they are. And I am still learning.

So keep going guys and its true you do not need a super duper rig to get stunning shots. Just plan a shot out, pause the sim see how the shot will look. if your not happy just try different angles, weather and times of day, it will all come together.

Anyway, once again many thanks all.

I'm off to pack my bags and run from RD!!!! :D

Thanks RD, looked at the running the other day, and was surprised to see me up there.

Well done everyone, that was a bit of a tough one, you have no idea how long it took me to get that shot, and how many pics I trashed in the process.

Thanks Noddy......... I may have the same problem, I just got hit with the TrojanKillAV virus, god knows when, or how it got in, but it's contained now, but at a price, lost certain parts of Windows, which may or may not be recoverable, if not, then a clean sweep and a new XP install, frantically backing everything up at the mo.

I have no Control Panel, no System Restore, and lost my admin status.
