Autopilot--When I activate Altitude Hold, I can't bank

Post by skipperdan » Wed Feb 17, 2010 5:21 pm

I can't find my old notes on this subject. Therefore, I need help from younger people with a better memory than me.

Whenever I activate Altitude Hold, I am unable to bank the aircraft. Can someone please tell me the instruction that I need to add to allow me to Bank the aircraft while I have Altitude Hold enabled? 8) 8)
I AM NOT A PILOT. I JUST LOVE AVIATION.

Depends on the plane, if I remember correctly.
IE, Cessna 152 any autopilot locks out control inputs.
Lear Jet, you should still be able to turn with only ALT HOLD set.

After checking the files on my "Backup" disc, I discovered the answer to my question. There is a program called FFWL UTILITY that allows me to modify the CFG file "per aircraft". 8) 8)

Hi Skip,

Glad to hear you've found a solution that works for you, but it sounds a bit problematic in having to apply a third party solution to each and every aircraft in your FSX inventory. FYI, I've also had problems with most (if not all) of my FSX default aircraft, including a number of third party addons. Once I engage the AP, and Even If I Do Not Engage the NAV Button, the NAV button nevertheless seems to be engaged automatically by default for some darned reason!

My solution: Once you do engage the AP, click on the NAV button to turn it on, and then immediately click on it once again to disengage it. Now you should be able to manually bank the aircraft at will during climb out and during AP Altitude Hold flights.

Lemme know.

Jaeg-
