Success - Problem solved
Followed your instructions. located SP1 & SP2 for FSX and installed one by one :D (after making sure Acceleration and SP2 were uninstalled). Opened FSX after installing SP1 and checked P-38 and it was now visible and operating. Installed SP2 and now all is good ! Unchecked Preview DX10 (which now shows up). Still not sure if this should be checked or unchecked but program works either way as far as I can see.
Have not reinstalled "Acceleration" yet but will decide later. At this point I don't see any need for it for my use.
Very happy with my results and all the help received with this crazy problem.
Thanks again guys. :D

I purposely sat on the wall with this one, and after watching the precedings, I'm not sure this answers the initial problem, seems to me to be a make do.

But if we are all happy..............

Unless I am missing something, this is my reply to your PM Johnman.

Hi Johnman,

My reasons behind what I said, is because of his comments which were noted by me, they were "Have not reinstalled "Acceleration" yet but will decide later." until that step is completed I dont think it can be made a sticky.

Hey Mel,

Yes - You are the Inscrutable level Head and Firm Hand on the tiller ! - and I agree - until Budo decides to install Accelleration the matter would be open - However I have No doubts that Accelleration is designed to Install over FSX with Service Packs - and can be installed at any time !

Question for You - can Accelleration be Un Installed seperate from FSX - and if it can be - does it take the Service Packs with it ??

Pondering the Problems of the Universe - and having FUN doing it !! 8)

Looking at my installed programs, it does not list FSX and Acceleration as seperate items, it shows up as a whole ie: Microsoft Flight Simulator X: Acceleration so in answer to your question, and not ever having tried it, I would say no, you cannot uninstall Acceration without uninstalling FSX as well.

I can also confirm that I cannot see either SP1 or SP2, so that leads me to believe that it is all or nothing.

And no, I'm not about to try it.... 8)

Hi guys, if I can step in here for a minute and ask - If I were to install Acceleration would the installation process automatically delete SP2 during installation ? I know that it is a no no with Acceleration. If this has already been answered somewhere please excuse a feeble senior mind.

I think I am right in saying that both SP's would be gobbled up, but then again Acceleration might detect them and ask you to delete them..... sorry, cant be specific on this one.

Thanks Met, Safest probably best to delete before install of Acceleration. More reason for me to be sure if I want to use it. For an old guy that is now limited in activities FS is gives many many hours of enjoyment and thanks to you guys for supplying answers when needed.

I would still like to know what version of FSX Budo has. Until then, there are alot of variables, issues, etc.

As well, WHY, it happened.

Hey Budo,

I believe that You will find that Accelleration will install right over the Top of the Service Packs and if it doesn't like the Service Packs It will send You a message - what to Un Install. Microsoft Programs are very good at telling You what they like - and what they don't like !!

Have You found the IJN Pilots Shooting at You - Now that They can SEE You !!

Hey Ardie - I guess He could go to the About Screen to find that out! - Budo knows How to do that !! #-o

Thanks Budo.

One of two problems happened. You either didn't fully install the Deluxe, or something got corrupted within the program. Deluxe has both service packs and Acceleration, same as the Gold version. I am not there, nor did I install it. So I'm not sure what happened to your FSX.

If anything, I would put in your first disc, and do a "Repair" of your version of FSX. This will kick the updates, and install what is supposed to be installed. If you're happy with how it is working, then don't.

RD are you sure Deluxe has SP2? I have the deluxe verison and also the Acceleraiton CD. I have always installed the Acceleraiton Cd after FSX. When I do a repair I use the Deluxe first followed by a repair using the acceleraotn cd.

To be real honest, I'm not sure. It's been a long time since I've installed it. Never had a problem with it, so I don't remember if I did, or did not install the SP2. I do know I have Acceleration and its SDK. My version of FSX is 10.0.61637.0

Budo
The version in your most recent crash is not the right version if Acceleration is installed. The correct version of FSX with Acceleration installed is 10.0.61637.0.

Double check your version since the update, or whatever it was you did.

Actually what I ended up doing as I indicated in a previous post was to uninstall Acceleration and SP2, rebooting computer then downloading SP2 and installing. I am now using FSX minus Acceleration and am now able to see the "ghost" P-38 and happy with the arrangement as is. So for now that's the way I will continue.
Thanks all and Happy Holidays.
