Afterburner WIP

Post by rd » Thu Nov 06, 2008 8:11 am

This is only for the F14D, and nothing else. But could be.

I'm somewhere between the start and middle stages of....hopefully a kick butt afterburner effect for the F14D Tomcat. As I get it right, or close to what I want to see and experience, I'll update it here.

I'll either post up pics or vids of where I am on it. Or both. As well, where things went horribly wrong.

Here's a short vid of it, minus a few eye candies. As well, a few pics.

The Batburner was a good one, but this will blow it away.

Holy moly...you're a magician! We definitely have to talk soon. 8O
Will you consider saving a version of what you have so far as well? What I mean is the effect in progress has appeal to me just as it is so far...even though I know you'll probably add to it, extending a flame cone, etc. As you know, I love the 18 - foot long blowtorch burner flame sets big time, but find short, hot-looking burner effects extremely useful too.
Awesome as usual RD, I'm very happy that you create these beautiful effects, I haven't got the time or patience to dive in and figure this stuff out, among my own messes of creation!
That is, assuming you'll let me play....I can't offer anything up for trade.
*burbs guiltily...and it smells like JD and ice cream *

Without the cone effect, it looks pretty close to the real thing. 8O 8)

It is gorgeous, eh?

I have seen some carrier footage...and at night, those blowtorch flames are really there, rings and all.
A thing of beauty for sure!

Isn't it great how the little boy in us always loves big fire and loud noises!

That's what I mean Hark, RD nailed it!
And I have been on the Carrier to see it, feel it, smell it, and taste it.
That right there is a thing of beauty! =P~

Wow guys, thanks for the great response.

I've seen them in person on the USS Constellation, and it was a sight and smell, you will never forget.

Here's a file pic, of just the half of it, of what you saw in the vid.

Making the cone(s) will be harder, and take more time.

Post by groundsquirrel » Sun Nov 09, 2008 3:38 pm

extreme bummer......it appears as though RD's burner vid is one of those lost to the site database rollback. I kinda wanted to check it out. But having gone catfishing before, I can wait for the real deal.

I think we can work something out for the 747. Maybe even a new paint, to go along with it. 8)

Outstanding looking effect so far mister, I love that I can see the flame fluctuation...even far away in a small video format.

...And an inverted wing wag to you too. :D 8)

Those are hot RD...I mean seriously heat hot! They look like scorchers, very effective, and the extra work you put into the 'inner fire' looks great and is awesomely visible in the exhaust cylinders. Sweeet.

Well then....

I guess I'll have to tidy it up a bit, package it up, and upload it to here only.

There's a total of 18 different segments, in 14 folders. Now to just put the 10 segments used, into one pretty yellow box....ermm.... Folder.

Should be available on Dec 1st, or earlier.

Hark, your ZKimmer is next. :D

Are you kidding me???
I'm cursing you now for how the lights are numbered and setup, as they sit now.

Oh, I kind of forgot about that. I do remember mentioning that it was a W.I.P., thrown - together sort of thing. Oh, okay, I admit it, it's probably worse than Heeshung's room.
Hey, at least the messy lights setup is labeled.
I sometimes do this sort of stuff in a little mini-frenzy of activity, then clean things up later. :D

Sorry, but I had to put this on the backburner, because of work. Now that it has died down alittle, I can get to tidying it up a bit, and get it ready for upload.

I also figured I would print out the 4 stages of the new Afterburner. Just in case of a thermo-nuclear meltdown of the HD. OMFG.... it ended up printing out 62 pages.

Man, I hope a couple of you guys get it, so I don't have to retype all those pages again. :D

RD

EDIT: File has been uploaded to "G". Hope you guys that get it, enjoy it. RD
