New Software from Microsoft--Microsoft Flight

Post by skipperdan » Tue Aug 17, 2010 4:28 pm

Microsoft announced the development of "Microsoft Flight," a new entry inspired by the best-selling "Microsoft Flight Simulator" franchise.

Twenty-eight years after the debut of "Microsoft Flight Simulator 1.0," Microsoft Game Studios also announced the internal development of "Microsoft Flight," a new Windows exclusive. "Microsoft Flight" will bring a new perspective to the long-standing genre, welcoming everyone, including long-time fans, to experience the magic of flight.

Thanks Skip!

I got it this time, and thanks for the great find! You definitely scooped everyone of us as far as I know! :D :D :D

Wow! I thought MS had closed down the Flight Sim development offices and encased them in concrete...buried it all under some baseball stadium next to Jimmy Hoffa! So what's this "MS Flight" thing all about? The little teaser ad is very, very intriguing! Awakened that something in me that has gone lax and vegetative since MS closed the Flight Sim Barn! Has MS seen the light? Has the torch been passed to another genre of developers? :?:

Okay, I've gotta go outside for this one, read the lay of the stars and contemplate this news with a walk around Lake Michigan!

cool! I was beginning to think that FSX was going to be the last installment for a long time to come. I hope that this version will be backwards compatible with all existing add ons that are compatible with FSX. Microsoft really dropped the ball with the lack of backwards compatibility in FSX. Only like 5% or so of my favorite aircraft in FS9 will work in FSX.

Don't get your hopes up.
I am under the impression that this is a whole new product. If they were planning to have any backwards compatability to FSX, they would have called it Flight Simulator FSXI. 8) 8)

Re: New Software from Microsoft--Microsoft Flight

Post by JetRanger » Thu Oct 06, 2011 11:53 am

Go Read my Post : FSX is Dead & Dying,,,, read my post and what I found on the net,,,, look I don't know about all of YOU, but I'm Totally Done with this Flight Simulator Stuff,,,,,NO MORE - enough is enough of this every few years they attempt to come out with some NEWER version thats supposedly supposed to be better than WE all find out its NOT and have to wait for all kinds of PATCHES and service packs,,, and more money spent - thousands of dollars WE have to pay to be able to hopefully make this new simulator work, Maybe ???? I've had enough of Spending money on all this software flight sim junk, I can buy a Real flyable R/C Heli or Aircraft and attach a Video Camera to it and fly it around and edit the Video's for YOU TUBE for a fraction of the cost all this Flight Simming is costing us ( see my other article in the forums) - and go to YOU TUBE and check out the newest Craze they refer to as - "FPV" ,,, see what thats all about ,,, now you can actually FLY and R/C Aircraft - Heli or Fixed Wing just as if you were sitting in the cockpit of you R/C Aircraft - Real Simulation with REAL Scenery and REAL Aircraft its called " FPV" - stands for FIRST PERSON VIEW - a camera mounted inside or on the side of the R/C Aircraft,,,, and it Transmits the actual images right back to YOU ,,,, to your Special FPV Glasses you wear or to your Computer Screen / laptop and you can go fly anywherem parks,,, air parks,,, national parks,, your neighborhood,,,, etc,,,,, before I spend another dime for a New Flight Sim and everything that I'll need to go with it to make it work,,,, I'll be doing the FPV and forget Microsofts new Flight Sim Whatever - I've had enough ! See my other post in the FSX Category about this and what I found !!!!

JetRanger:

I am very happy to hear about someone who has gotten away from behind their computer desk and joystick to fly remote control aircraft. Instead of complaining about what Microsoft is planning with their new software, you should be redirecting your efforts towards visiting the local flight school and enrolling in lessons for either Sport Pilot or Private Pilot.

I fly at least once (often twice) per month with the Civil Air Patrol and use this software to either practice before a flight or else to practice new skills that I learned during the flight. I have found that my older computer and Flight Simulator “X” software are more than enough for my needs.
